About the Game
WELCOME TO THE VEXINGTON HOTEL
It's graduation night in Lucid Falls, and eight teenagers have wandered from the party only to discover THE SPIRIT LIFT, a magical elevator that transports them through 13 floors of monsters and mayhem!
This ever-changing 3D hotel changes depending on the boss which awaits them in the penthouse. Gather cards, gold, and gear while navigating the eerie corridors on the way to the top. Beware of unpredictable events and creepy enemies lurking in the shadows!
EACH TEAM CHANGES STRATEGY AND STORY
Familiar deck-building gameplay with a survival horror twist! Use your equipment deck to fight the creatures prowling the hotel. Upgrade cards as you gain experience, balancing your deck by blending four deck focuses any way you prefer. Decades of history have filled the halls with items from many eras, including plenty of '90s nostalgia. Even that one squiggly doodle cup everyone used to have.
Your trio of teenagers determines your start deck and so much more. Watch their relationships unfold as they answer riddles, discover their own backstories and use their individual strengths to bypass risky dilemmas.
BE KIND, REWIND, AND SEEK THE TRUTH LOST BEHIND
Death is encouraged in this deranged experiment! Unlock new characters, bosses, and events by playing multiple times and exploring different strategies. Learn how to collect more cards and gear by perusing the Library.
Win or lose, earn Spirit points to spend on customizing your next trip through the hotel. Discover hidden evidence, unexpected secrets and the lift's true purpose.

We're over 100 Reviews!
Thank you thank you thank you! For smaller teams like us, this is a huge accomplishment. We're so happy that THE SPIRIT LIFT has found an audience. Thank you for talking about the game, recommending it to friends and content creators, and of course playing and reviewing! The next big milestone for reviews is rather high, but every single one counts, so please consider leaving one if you haven't already!
UPDATE NOTES
Today we've made a small quality of life update to address some issues players have mentioned! Thank you for playing and giving us feedback!
Build number 5721
Fixing Dark Compass and Deflated Bopper cards to be labeled as Weapon instead of Aid!
Adding auto-save indicator for when we save the run at the start of each floor
Updating selection of story events to help fill out the library after reaching 50%. If the conditions are correct for an event which gives evidence, cards, or secret keys you don't have, they are prioritized better.
Remember if you want to report more issues, the fastest way is to use our form!

What's Next?
Behind-the-scenes content and more events are coming up, and we're continuing work on the bigger stuff we mentioned before: One last special feature in the game and controller support!
Steam Deck is Playable!
THE SPIRIT LIFT has already been played on Steam Deck by us and many of you! But now we have been reviewed by Steam and labeled "Playable"!
Here's the two issues they flagged:
With on-screen arrows on, the game mentions "WASD" controls. Instead of these keyboard controls, you can use the left stick of your Steam Deck or touch the arrows on your screen.
"Some in-game text is small and may be difficult to read"... this is true and we have it in our backlog to fix these issues! In the meantime, one of our players suggested setting the resolution in the game options to a higher resolution. See if it works for you!
After our planned work on controller support, we will return to Steam Deck verification to get that green check!
BUILD UPDATE: 5658
Here's the new patch notes:
Fixed a bug in “Doing Research” event that caused it to always show the evidence file as not yet collected
Updating Dorian’s Cufflinks Gear to apply to all shops encountered and not just the first one
Updating Dorian’s Vest to only apply to purchases in the shop, and increased to +3 max health
Renaming evidence title from “Masked” to “Local Legend”
Moving the story event checkmark for finale flags to be in front of the key icon to match evidence
Removed period from the end of certain run log messages for consistency (ex: “Healed X for skipping card upgrade”)
Updating dialogue and wording in certain Story Events including fixing character replies that were out of order
Known Issues
A few of you have found some very unusual situations! Perhaps the game is haunted? If you are willing to tell us more, please fill out our form. Especially if you could include your email address; we would like to chat with you further! https://forms.gle/5PwwiRp79oNqrkW47
Are you having trouble getting the last team win for the 56 teams challenge?
Have you seen a "boss ghost child" on floor 7?
A Clue to Unlocking All Cards
We can see that some of you are playing for MORE THAN 50 HOURS?! One of us, one of us...
Therefore, we suspect that you are hunting out every card in the game for that achievement. But there's one in particular that's hard to find as it's hidden behind a puzzle from one of our trailers:
If that puzzle is too puzzling, then perhaps this trivia will help!
How many runs does it take to unlock Garnet?
How many children did Ambrose Vexington have?
How many attacks does a Tripod do?
This sequence will lead you to an important date. To earn your daily bread, you'll need to find out what to do with it!
And as for last week's trivia, the answer is... the number of teenagers caught up in THE SPIRIT LIFT! Unlike the above questions, though, this answer has nothing to do with the puzzle.
Until Next Time...
Your next update may take a little longer! We are cooking up something scary for those of you that need a challenge!
Thank you for all the love! Keep spreading the word and writing those reviews! We're almost at 100!
THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY LAUNCH WEEK!
We have had such a great launch week thanks to you! We are so seriously happy to see that you are enjoying THE SPIRIT LIFT! There's only ONE MORE DAY to get the launch discount, tell your friends!
Thank you so much for getting us over 50 reviews during our first week. Because we are a self-funded indie studio, that review number is HUGE for us! The bigger it gets, the more time we can spend on free updates to the game! Let's see if we can get 100?!
TODAY'S UPDATE: BUILD 5638

WHAT'S NEXT?
We are still working on a couple of free SECRET updates for you! These are larger features, so it will take a little more time to make sure they are ready to go! We will keep you updated here!
After these SECRET updates, we will be working on:
Better Steam Deck controls
Controller Support
Localization (Stretch goal based on budget!)
For localization, please let us know which languages you care about the most by filling out our feedback form! https://forms.gle/5PwwiRp79oNqrkW47
We will keep updating minor fixes as often as we can. And we have a few more dreams we'd love to add to the game if excitement continues to grow...
TRIVIA TIME!
Here's today's question! In THE SPIRIT LIFT, you can find a Magic 13 Ball. What number is usually on this ball? Bonus points if you know an answer you could receive if you asked a question and turned it over.

Last week's answers:
1. Tamagotchi
2. Scream
3. Fortune Telling
Also, we want to assure you that the full game will be much more challenging than the demo! This is the type of game that requires dying many times to learn strategy and earn ways to make the next run easier. Or even harder, if you're into that!
We are a smaller team and balancing a deck builder takes time and patience, so thank you again for your feedback. By the way, how many of you found the secret event hinted at in our demo launch trailer?
Changes include:
- New option to turn off movement arrows
- Sliders for movement speed and rotate speed
- New option toggles for hold to rotate and hold to move
- You no longer see a run log tutorial if you die
- Multi-attacks update the health bar multiple times
- Multi-attacks stop if the attacker dies during them
- Brightness settings do not reset on a new run
- Coin icon added to gold rewards from events
- Options text scrambling randomly is fixed
- You can no longer gain extra regen by clicking End Turn after all enemies are defeated
- Minor fixes to typos and text color
