About the Game

Surviving in the wilderness is far from easy! Hone your hunting skills by practicing on animals such as elk, mule deer, and moose. Once you've grasped their differences and know your limits against your selection of prey, seek out another wolf to become your mate and form a pack together. Explore fields and forests across Yellowstone National Park while you establish a territory and choose a den. Raise your pups by feeding them and playing with them. Protect them from deadly predators who try to kill them.

Over time, your family will outgrow the need for a den and become nomadic, where you teach your pups how to catch their own prey. By next spring they will be yearlings, and test these new skills to help raise the next litter. Eventually, some will venture out on their own and disperse, just as you did all that time ago.

And the cycle repeats, year after year, until you die. The saga of your life begins and ends when you choose, be it one life only or a succession of multiple generations.

But be wary – you are not the only wolf in the area. Rival packs make their home across the landscape and don't take kindly to sight-seeing intruders. Other dangers roam the lands as well – grizzly bears, cougars, and coyotes among them who will vie with you for territory and food.

Raising the bar for realistic and accurate eco-simulation gameplay, many features in the game are directly adapted from wildlife research. Our science advisors include some of the top wolf biologists in the world today, who help us keep WolfQuest accurate to real wolf biology and behavior.
Live the life of a wild wolf! Form your own pack and watch your adorable pups grow into adults and disperse, year after year, until your wolf dies. End your story on your deathbed, or select an heir to continue your legacy.
Dynamic day/night, weather and seasons immerse you into the wilderness.
Wolves communicate with each other using natural actions and vocalizations. Packmates and pups interact and play with each other. Dynamic (family-friendly) courtship interactions help find and choose a suitable mate.
A genetics system models inheritance of each wolf's genes, including eye color, physical and personality attributes, and genetic coat color.
Elk roam the lands in realistic herds, along with moose, mule deer, beavers and other prey.
Animals behave and change to the seasons. Herds migrate through the year. Bucks and bulls spar in the autumn rut and shed their antlers. Cows and does give birth and raise their own young.
Rival wolf packs maintain and protect their own territories from intruders – like you!
Bears, cougars and coyotes will challenge you for your kills and defend their own.
Optional Ironwolf Mode: Live life on the edge, where each decision counts and your death can't be taken back.
Over 100 Achievements and a variety of collectible objects hidden across the map, from shed antlers, skulls, to lost human items.
And a lot more!

Engage in Co-op Multiplayer: Raise your pups together in a group for one game year, maintain territory together against rival packs, or hang out in a sandbox without any real objective.
Live a Wolf's Life Together: Build a pack and raise pups year to year in a special 2-Player Mode, until one of you dies of old age.
Choose who joins your games by selecting if they're public to all, private to friends, or only for select individuals or in-game pack groups.

BUG FIXED:
Wolves collared as yearlings lose the collar when they turn age two.
v3.0.1e - PUBLIC BETA
NOTE: Game saves are backward compatible with the last released patch, so if you switch back to that version, new saves will be hidden until this patch is officially released. Multiplayer games are NOT backward-compatible with the last released patch, so you can only play with those who have this beta version.
BETA 12
CHANGES:
Very old game saves (from before February 2021) can no longer be loaded (and are not displayed in the Load Saved Game panel), due to a vulnerability in that old code which would allow a malicious actor to run malicious code on the player's computer. (During this public beta, you can switch to the last released patch, v3.0.1d, and load those saves, then resave them to make them playable, but do not do that if those saves came from someone else, to avoid any risk of malicious code.)
NEW: IN-GAME RADIO-COLLARING
In-game radio collaring: Player-pack and rival wolves can be radio-collared during winter months. For player-wolf and packmates, this can happen during each sleep/dream sequences (and is indicated with a special dream sequence). Smaller packs will eventually have one collared wolf, while larger packs will have two or three. NPC packs will, over the course of one or two winter seasons, have two or three wolves collared.
New option in Game Settings: Gameplay to disable collaring entirely, or enable it only for NPC wolves, or enable it fully (for player-wolf as well as NPCs).
In-game collaring only occurs in Yellowstone maps, not in either Lost River.)
In-game collaring can occur in 2-Player Saga Multiplayer games, but not in other multiplayer game modes.
Collar selection in Wolf Customization overrides the Gameplay settings selection, so you can force a collar on your player-wolf if you like.
NEW: OTHER
Two-player Saga Multiplayer: When one player dies as an Elder Wolf, the game now pauses for both players and applies the same logic as in pre-Saga single-player to determine which young pups will survive and then become playable in the Family Tree.
My Account: Friends: New toggles to show/hide Offline Friends and to sort the list of Friends alphabetically. Also a new subpanel to show Blocked players (and unblock them).
Game Settings: Display: New slider to adjust Nametag opacity.
Display new notification if game cannot connect to game server/accounts, and the language or multiplayer region is set to Russian, explaining that this is likely due to issues within Russia and out of our control.
IMPROVEMENTS
Wolf swimming: Improved animation, and wolf now turns head in direction of turning when swimming.
Refinements to wolf's jump movements.
Multiplayer: Refinements to weather syncing between host and client players.
Added notification when player-wolf is carrying pup and energy drops to zero but pup can't be dropped because terrain is very difficult.
Some memory optimizations.
BUGS FIXED
In rare circumstances, after joining a rival pack, some pups in that pack have a weight of zero.
GP pups' legs sometimes stretch unnaturally.
When going into building interiors when there is no snow on wolf's fur creates snow on fur.
Family Tree: When opened from Pack Info, button in top-right incorrectly says "Back to My Wolves."
Multiplayer: For client players, research airplane audio sound doesn't respect Human Noises setting in Game Setting: Audio.
My Account: Messages: Multiple-delete button not appearing as it used to. Also added a Select All button.
Setup New Game: Sleep Types not displayed for Tower Fall map.
Some errors triggered by initialization issue with scent tracks in multiplayer.
Bug Reporter: Word-wrapping sometimes causes text field to move annoyingly.
NPC wolves occasionally have very short "corgi" legs. Also added more logging about this so please submit a bug report if you see it happening.
Pronghorn doe carcass inflates when it's nearly fully consumed.
Tower Fall: Lynx eyes are red sometimes on Basic Sky & Veg mode.
Tower Fall: In one area on the west border, prey animals can go beyond the world wall.
Tower Fall: Pathfinding issues at a few dens.
Tower Fall: Some rocky areas have misaligned colliders.
Tower Fall: Minor den and terrain issues.
