Take on the role of a heartless killer for hire and see why Blood Trail has come to be known as "the most violent game in VR".
You are Wendigo. A hard-hearted contract killer tasked with annihilating a fanatical cult.
Built from the ground up for VR using proprietary character physics and gore systems, Blood Trail offers an unprecedented shooting experience not for the faint of heart.
With realistic gun mechanics and medically accurate damage effects, you will have no margin for error as you use your pistol, shotgun, rifle and fists to become the last man standing in this nightmarish and brutal scenario.

Early Access to Blood Trail gives you several ways to satisfy your unhealthy, violent urges:
Raid -- battle across 9 huge handcrafted trails that end in semi-dynamic outposts full of people to murder.
Survival Mode -- stack the bodies high in 6 unique arena style maps where you will face an onslaught of enemies in a fast-paced shootout.
Sandbox -- Abstract environments for soothing, stress-relieving violence.

Please note that this Experimental Branch update introduces new content that is largely untested by the public and may present unexpected bugs or performance issues. We appreciate your feedback as we refine these additions and work to enhance the gameplay experience.

- Added new Survival Mode map, "Jumper," set in a forest rock quarry with verticality and plenty of cover for intense shootouts.
Changes
- Reintroduced headlamp and night vision: reach above your head (L side - headlamp / R side - NV) ) to toggle between them. The headlamp’s beam is visible to enemies in the dark, extending their detection range.
- Suppressed Wendigo's Piovra 9mm to prepare for stealth features in the upcoming Raid update. (Enemy Piovras remain unsuppressed).
- Increased fall damage for NPCs.

- Fixed an issue with enemies shooting themselves.
- Improved NPC navigation in the sandbox map "Cold Roller."

Experimental Branch Hotfix
Changes
- Introduced an experimental optimization feature for dead NPCs, making them non-interactable once the player stops focusing on them. This may become an optional setting for higher-end systems.
- Optimized the "Heartbreaker" survival mode map by reducing the complexity of landscapes and materials.
- Enhanced navigation in "Heartbreaker" by adjusting various areas for smoother player and NPC movement.

- Fixed logic that caused runner enemy types to crash the game; AI is temporarily less advanced but smarter pathfinding will return.
- Fixed spawners in "Paint Thinner" map.

- Fixed bug preventing some discarded magazines from culling themselves.
- Removed ability to stab your own hand, which caused glitchy physics behavior.

- Disabled runner enemy type temporarily while we investigate the cause of crashes.
- Removed melee particle effect.
- Introducing fix to cut down on crashes for some Quest users. (Punch blocking volumes removed as part of this.)
Please note: A text render will appear for 30 seconds displaying your HMD type. Also, this build is new, so it's a bit bigger than normal.
- Increased enemy bludgeon damage cooldown from .2 to .25 sec, matching the cooldown for punches.
- Player's hands get a larger punch-blocking radius when held up in a guard position near the face.
- Removed arcade mode ammo drops for 2-EZ, EASY, and NORMAL difficulties where ammo is already infinite.
- Increased brass knuckle damage (from 10 to 35).
- Made pipe-to-lips volume bigger so we can get nicer looking crack hits without hitting ourselves in the face.
- Added text descriptions for difficulty levels on options menu.
- Ammo is now finite for both HARD and BRUTAL difficulties.
- Max pipe bombs for BRUTAL and HARD mode reduced to 5.

- Fixed display count and rotation for pipe bomb ammo display (only visible in HARD and BRUTAL difficulties where ammo is finite)
- Fixed bug that may have caused ammo drops not to refill Ghost .308 and Piovra 9mm magazines.
- Corrections made to corkscrew weapon. weight reduced to eliminate floaty behavior, grip location/rotation adjusted for both hands.
- Fix for enemies sliding around when moving at low speeds.
- Fix for enemies freezing in the ready position when a knife is left stabbed into them.
- Fixed Wendigo footstep sounds not playing in several maps.
- Fixed an issue that caused ragdolls to go flying when pulling a stabbing implement out of them.

- Changed animation for enemy reaction to being shoved down.
- Balanced ambient audio in map: Homewrecker
- Removed an animation that caused unnecessary arm movements after headshots. No more flappin'.

- Fixed major issues with jitter and lag when holding guns in two hands.
- Fixed issue in Black Site where several menu options were not selectable.
- Improved logic for Wendigo's footsteps and fall sounds. Sounds are now more consistent, with more realistic timing. New landing sounds included as well.
- Fixed some navigation bugs in "Cold Roller" that may have resulted in enemies getting stuck in certain spots.
- Fixed some floating meshes in “Cold Roller”.

- Temporarily disabled holster layout options for stability.
- Balanced audio: background sound in all maps, various sounds in both Wendigo and the enemy, and other sound effects.
- Improved spawning logic for non-moving enemies so they spawn close to the player.

- Melee weapon bludgeon damage velocity thresholds adjusted.
- Hunting Knife and Ice Pick are no longer throwable, they will return to the holster instantly like guns/brass knuckles do. (Throwable knives may return at a later date.)
- Enemies will now enter their downed state if they are struck while getting up off the ground.
- Slight adjustment to AKS-74U shot spread.
- Blacksite: Added more stairs and nav modification to give enemies more efficient paths to cover and prevent them from getting stuck in certain spots.
