About the Game
Dupery is a solo deduction game set in a noir city infiltrated by a powerful criminal syndicate. Take on the role of a detective, hunt down the syndicate criminals and uncover the head of the network. Explore individual cases, investigate roles - many of whom will be lying - and weed out the evil. There are 4 categories of roles - Innocent, Meddler, Underling and Traitor - with 175+ individual roles you will come across in your cases. Use your detective skills and a healthy amount of distrust for everyone to arrest the syndicate members as you traverse regions, all while maintaining your reputation and evading their attempts to deceive you. Avoid wrongful arrests, or you could lose your job.
Interrogate, Review, Arrest
Cases are procedurally generated on a grid containing a mix of good and evil roles. To solve a case, use clues provided by the characters and deduce whose stories are not quite checking out. Underlings lie, Traitors are worse, and even the well-meaning may be tainted. Cross reference what you hear, compile imperfect information using strings, pins and pen on your detective board and make your arrests. From the Mathematician who will announce the sum of all evil role addresses, to the critic who causes your reputation loss to be doubled, it’s up to you to investigate them and make the right decisions.
Your Reputation Is on the Line
Progress through areas by completing cases, building your way towards the final boss confrontation. Arresting good-aligned roles will reduce your reputation - letting it fall too low will get you fired. Arresting all evil roles counts as solving the case and will increase your reputation, allowing you to pick the next case to solve. Choose which roles to add to your cases in between missions, along with acquiring quirks and modifiers that will shape your runs.
Different Campaigns. One Syndicate.
Work your way through three campaigns set in distinct regions, each with its own unique mechanics and roles that alter your gameplay. Each region progresses you towards a final confrontation with the region’s syndicate general, where you will gain clues. Winning a region also unlocks new tiers of roles and quirks. Once you have unlocked all 9 tiers across every region, it’s time to enter the Syndicate's region and face the boss - a brutal final run drawing from everything you encountered on your way. It’s up to you to bring down the syndicate mastermind.

Fixed a bug with the tutorial cases evil roles not disguising.
Fixed bug in tutorial 4 where a mobster was pretending to be a not in play role.
Fixed bug where if you exited right after unlocking a new mode, when you came back it would not be unlocked.
Added report bug button to the case over screen.
Spectre now has some extra description that states that they can obscure themselves.
What's next?
As mentioned in the previous post, we have a handful of small features we still want to add to the demo but for the most part, the demo will most likely stay in its current form as we start focusing more on the development of the main game.
We will of course continue to update the demo with bug fixes as they are reported. Thank you all so much for playing and sharing your feedback with us!
Good luck detectives!

Dupery Demo v0.2.50 (Demo Patch #3)
Hope you are all well!
Lets look at today's changes.
What's been changed?
First lets take a look at the new QoL features:
Added temporary tooltip to the magnifying glass. When hovering over a suspect in the suspect list, there will now be a small "Click for more information" text at the bottom.
Added temporary tooltip when grabbing pen
Added temporary tooltip when grabbing rubber
Added temporary tooltip to first tutorial level for investigating and arresting roles.
And now some bug fixes:
Fixed bug where conman could pretend to be a not in play role (caused by the Barkeep turning that role into a drunkard)
Fixed bug with Faulty Clock quirk causing time showed to be wildly different from real time.
Fixed bug with Broken Clock quirk causing Clock Tower to never ring.
Fixed crash that could occur with a hitman in play and the Deadly Aim quirk.
Fixed bug with Bad Influences that would cause there to be 2 identical underlings in play.
What's next?
Again thanks to the people in the GRG Discord for the feedback and reports!
We have redesigned the wife, mistress, doppelganger, chatterbox, bounty hunter, milkman, stalker, preacher, conman, and judge. So expect to see those being implemented in the next patch or two.
We have added some temporary context popups, but we want to re-do them properly soon that extend beyond the tutorial in a more useful way. You will be able to turn this feature off in the settings when its added.
The ability to see normal roles announcement text in the breakdown is currently bugged and we are going to fix that next patch.
We want to add coloured string as tool on the left side, the idea would be that you can use string to connect pins together to help notate connections.
A rework for case generation is due soon to help correct the difficulty/complexity estimations, improve board quality, and prevent more 50-50 scenarios.
A few bugs have been reported in the discord we plan to look into and address soon.
We have a lot of things planned. Stay tuned for more!
If you've got suggestions we'd love to hear them! (Come say hi in the Discord)
Thank you all so much,
Good luck detectives!

Dupery Demo v0.2.49 (Demo Patch #2)
Firstly, thank you all so much for playing our demo!
We did not expect to have so many of you pick it up so fast, but we are very glad you are here!
What's been changed?
After watching some people play the demo, we have changed/fixed the following:
Fixed a few spelling mistakes in roles, forecast being spelt 'forcast' in the weatherman as an example as a YouTube comment pointed out.
The tutorial has been reworked slightly to include the following information:
You can scroll on mouse and keyboard to resize the rubber brush size.
You can pick up and use a pen in the same way, using the scroll wheel to change its colour, and holding down the middle mouse button to access a quick change colour wheel.
You can hold and drag to create pins that can be placed and moved around on the board.
They can be coloured the same way as the pens.
Roles on the suspect list are called suspected roles.
The default pen and pin colour is now blue.
The colour order was changed to be more useful when scrolling.
The priest description has been reworked to be the following: "I announce "I am the Priest." When I am lying or tainted, I will announce something else."
The priest's codex entry now gives an example of what they might say when lying.
The mailman's codex entry now specifies that they can lie in one of the first or second halves of their announcement.
Runs have a much more exotic set of starting roles to pick from in later demo challenge modes.
Fixed a mistake that caused 7 roles to not appear. Be free, my beautiful hitman.
Fixed a bug that caused the quick change colour wheel not to appear correctly or at all.
Fixed a bug in a tutorial case that missed the priest from the suspect list.
Fixed a spelling mistake on the demo end screen.
Fixed a formatting issue on the stat menu screen.
Fixed a crash that could occur due to enough innocent characters being present.
What's next?
A quick shoutout to everyone in the GRG Discord who have been super useful with suggestions and bug fixes. We want to make this game as cool as possible and its been really great to see everyone so excited to help improve Dupery!
We have been listening to feedback and plan to rework the Wife and the Mistress in the near future.
We also want to add some small text context popups to help reduce friction for people learning to play.
The ability to see normal roles announcement text in the breakdown is currently bugged and we are going to fix that next patch.
We want to add coloured string as tool on the left side, the idea would be that you can use string to connect pins together to help notate connections.
A rework for case generation is due soon to help correct the difficulty/complexity estimations and prevent more 50-50 scenarios.
A few bugs have been reported in the discord we plan to look into and address soon.
Of course we have tons of roles we want to add, and we will also be working on the next big mechanical stuff for the full game once all the bumps of the demo have been smoothed out.
If you've got suggestions we'd love to hear them!
Thank you all so much,
Good luck detectives!
- Lydia, Matt, and Luke.
