About the Game
Protect and guide your small band of settlers to forge a town from untamed wilderness at the edge of the known world. Harvest raw materials, hunt, fish and farm to sustain your advancing town. Produce crafted items for villagers to trade, consume, equip and fight with as you battle for your survival against the elements and outside threats (pacifist mode available for players who do not want to engage in combat).
Key Features
Harvest, Grow, Craft - Harvest 16 different raw materials from wood, stone and clay, to metal ores, wild herbs, and honey. Grow 19 types of food, including forage items, fish and game, plus 12 food crops, each with different characteristics. Produce 32 crafted items and materials in a multi-tiered economy.
Build and Advance - Construct over 190 different buildings as you grow your town from a fledgling settlement to a bustling city. Your town center and housing will advance through multiple building tiers as the prosperity and desirability of your town increases and advancements are made in a vast 140+ point Tech Tree. Upgrade production buildings to increase efficiency and enable production of more advanced items. Construct a temple and customize your people’s faith with discoverable relics.
Most Detailed Farming System Ever - Strategically select from 12 crops with unique growing characteristics and configure crop rotations to maintain soil fertility, avoid heat and frost damage, and prevent the accumulation of diseases. Cultivate your fields over time, removing weeds and rocks, raising fertility and adjusting soil mixture to achieve maximum crop production to keep your growing population fed.
Advanced Town Simulation - Villagers actively live their lives and perform their jobs in real time. Watch as villagers carry goods across town from remote work-sites to be processed into materials and crafted into items. See foods and goods delivered to homes, the trade post or stored for later use. Develop roads, transport wagons and improve storage methods to facilitate the efficient movement of goods through your town and prevent spoilage.
Randomly Generated Maps - No game is ever quite the same with beautiful, completely randomized terrain generation and resource distribution. Unique biomes and map themes increase replayability, with extreme maps leading to unique challenges. Controls allow players to specify the amount of water or mountains they desire, even down to which resources can generate on the map.
Idyllic to Brutal - Customizable difficulty options allow players to turn off features like invaders and disease, for a more tranquil experience or max out difficulty to truly test their town-builder prowess. Enable custom game options to cater the experience to your desires.
Environmental Interaction - Develop your economy based on which resources are locally abundant and produce items for trade to acquire that which you lack. Erect fencing to keep deer away from crop fields and stop bears from raiding food storage. Manage tree cover to prevent underground water supplies from drying up. Balance the need to clear land for agriculture around vital natural resources like wild growing medicinal plants and forage items.
All Them Old-Timey Diseases! - Ensure your villagers have clean water to stop outbreaks of dysentery and cholera. Collect berries and plant greens to avoid scurvy and ensure a healthy diet. Make sure villagers are properly shoed and clothed to reduce chances of contracting tetanus, rabies or frostbite. Build a healer’s house to quarantine the infected and provide herbs and medicine for treatment. Manage rodent populations by collecting waste, securely storing food and employing rat catchers to ward off the feared bubonic plague.
Fend Off Would-Be Invaders - Choose to play on pacifist and avoid combat altogether or engage with varying levels of raider difficulty to raise the stakes for your town’s survival. Progress from wood palisades to stone walls, build towers and barracks, recruit and equip soldiers in the defense of your town as rising prosperity attracts the attention of raiders and foreign armies seeking plunder.
Steam Workshop Integration - With full support for modding through the freely available Unity development tools and Steam Workshop, players have the power to take the game's strong foundation and build upon and reinvent it to their wildest desires.

v1.0.5 Hotfix 5
\
Fixed an issue where graphs would stop displaying in the Annual Report.
Fixed an issue where disabling weather effects would also disable lightning strikes, which consequently reduced chance of fires.
Fixed an issue where a combination of the Intensive Animal Farming policy and Artificial Selection tech could cause the two to not stack.
Fixed an issue where reloading could cause Horsemen and Lancers to have reduced health.
Fixed an issue where using the Select All Military function would ADD the military units to an active selection of villagers, instead of overriding it.
Fixed an issue where building upgrades that require Bricks would not display the correct costs after unlocking the Masonry tech.
Fixed an issue when taunting raiders using the Military Monument in Pacifist Mode that could cause raids to become stuck and the cooldown to not be respected.
Fixed some edge cases when placing double-wide gates that could result gaps in the wall.
\
Child happiness no longer factors in shoes and beer availability. The Pub is checking IDs.
Added new widgets for Barns and Chicken Coops to indicate when slaughtering of animals is paused by production limits on their products (ex. Tallow).
Improved logistics for wagons servicing mines and pits, which will allow them to more effectively grab large quantities of heavy materials and reduce the frequency with which villagers will pick them up themselves (ex. villagers grabbing ore before a wagon can).
Increased Immigration rates at lower populations.
Raider attacks on Excavation Sites now have a different icon to differentiate them from regular raids.
Our priority is always in ensuring everybody has a smooth experiencing with our games. As such, the team was diligently addressing critical bugs reported by you since release. We have now released two hotfixes and will be keeping an eye out for more issues. We will likely have at least one more hotfix patch before we focus our attention on larger updates and eventual DLC content.
Thank you to everyone that reported bugs and provided feedback!
v1.0.2 Hotfix 2
\
Fixed an issue where building windows were capped at a smaller height than intended.
Fixed an issue where villagers with tools would be miscounted, resulting in incorrect low tools warnings.
Fixed an issue where settings windows in the main menu would improperly resize, which also caused them to not fit on ultrawide resolutions.
Fixed an issue where opening the crop field window could cause a brief performance hitch.
Fixed an issue where raider banners could fail to display on the minimap if the banner holder would spawn inside of battering rams.
Fixed an issue where a critical laborers warning would appear excessively.
\
Increased Health of Palisade and Stone Walls and the Health and Armor of Palisade and Stone Gates.
v1.0.1 Hotfix 1
\
Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash on load. If you are still experiencing crashes during loading, please reach out to [email protected] with details of your issue.
Fixed an issue where the game could crash when engaging in combat with raiders. Like above, if you are still experiencing this issue, please reach out to us so we can help debug it further with you.
Fixed an issue where the Early Access data migration message would display for new players starting up the game for the first time. This was a result of Steam Cloud erroneously generating the old directory at startup, which has now been pwned.
Fixed an issue with the Custom Game options window not fitting on screen at ultrawide resolutions.
Fixed an issue with tooltips not scaling in the Tech Tree when changing resolutions and/or UI Scale in the game options.
Fixed an issue with minimap icons sometimes not displaying correctly when toggling their visibility.
Fixed an issue where villagers would sometimes seek water on opposite sides of lakes.
Fixed an issue where Compost Yards could become stuck with the Vermicast tech active, particulaly if there is 1 point invested in it out of 2.
\
Reduced % chance of fire spread and made fires easier to put out without the Civic Inspections tech.
Reverted change that increased Hay season duration, which prevented putting Field Maintenance in the same rotation.
Increased chance of Traveling Merchants selling Tomes of Knowledge and reduced their base price.

v0.7.4 Hotfix 2
- UI scale now goes up to 2x. This is at least a step towards improving the experience at 4k resolution that could be done in short order.
- Various UI fixes and adjustments, such as text clipping UI elements.
- UI text tweaks to accommodate longer words in some languages.
- Fixed blurry images on some building UI.
- Fixed a major issue when loading a game related to game pause occurring while the load screen was not yet gone.
- Fixed a major issue where farmers would not work on fields.
- Fixes for improperly displayed tooltips.
- Fixed incorrect item counts with deceased villagers.
- Fixed crop field outlines in certain odd cases when intersecting with roads.
- Scrolling the camera far from the Town Center and into Fog of War now causes the Center on Town Center button to become highlighted.
- Declined Immigration events no longer have a chance to turn hostile and pillage your storage. The ability to fight them was not working as intended and ultimately this old mechanic did not feel good as you are likely declining immigrants to avoid overpopulation and would sometimes be punished for it.
- Pacing of villager Entertainment demands significantly reduced / delayed to smooth out how quickly your turn needs to provide entertainment to maintain happiness.
- Clay Deposit generation rates and sizes increased for some biomes. In short: moar clay. This change is not retroactive.
- Building select SFX now correctly affected by UI audio slider.
- Added/updated some missing/incorrect translations.
- Waste accumulation in lower tier houses has been reduced.
- Disabled the supply wagon construction button. The Supply Wagon is the starting point for your people and is not intended as a storage method beyond that point. In the future, we plan for a way to convert your starting wagon into something more useful.
- Apothecary Shop relocated on building menu from Food to Amenities and Services.
- Armory can now produce Shields without Iron Ingots. This allows armorers to produce items in Tier 2 even if Iron Ingots are unavailable, which can be produced in town in a Tier 3 Foundry.
- Pub has moved to Tier 3 so that it now coincides with Brewery, which produces beer to use at the Pub. This change also aligns with the adjustments to entertainment needs.
- Rat Catcher monthly costs reduced.
- Theater monthly costs reduced.
- Well water alert now only displays when well is empty.
- Wind Mill flour production speed has been halved, but the number of Millers has been raised from 1 to 2, for more GRAINular control over how fast flour is generated.
- Honey no longer spoils.
- Taxes generated by Pottery and Candle luxury goods in homes boosted from 3 to 4 gold per year.
- Taxes generated from Spices and duration before they are consumed in homes boosted significantly.
- Tower and Soldier monthly upkeep costs reduced.
- Raiders are now a bit more stabby but less likely to destroy certain buildings, such as Root Cellars.
- Reduced armor on some raiders.
- Reduced melee weapon damages slightly all around.
- Regular villager attack boosted slightly.
Likewise, we are listening to your feedback regarding systems and mechanics. More tutorials are on the way to help those that are struggling to figure some of them out as well.
As not all issues are created equal, we frontloaded those we consider top priority for your enjoyment of the game and pushed them out ASAP.
This is only the beginning of our support of the game as we have a number of other fixes still on the way in the near future, as well as ongoing improvements to game performance and existing features.
