About the Game
Tennis Elbow 4 is the successor of Tennis Elbow 2013, acclaimed by many Steam reviewers as the most realistic tennis simulation ever.
TE4 pushes even deeper the realism of the tennis rallies by providing completely rehauled ball, strike & player physics.
Created by and for tennis fans, Tennis Elbow 4 is a tennis simulation with an easy and intuitive learning curve, but with exceptional gameplay depth.
In this tennis game, you'll have to show all your tactical skills, use an iron mind and quick reflexes, as well as a sharp eye to guess the ball trajectories, all of this to choose your next strike wisely.
To beat your opponent, you have the choice between all the possible strikes on a real court, from the safe strike to the acceleration, including the drop shot and the topspin lob.
Because of its numerous difficulty levels, this tennis simulation is designed for all tennis lovers, whether gamepad mashers or keyboard novices. In addition, a visual help system will assist you in aiming the ball and positioning your player. You can turn these options on and off whenever it suits you.
TE4 features one of the most complete World Tour ever made in a tennis video game. With over 3500 players evolving over several decades competing in more than 400 tournaments each year, from the low-rank Junior tournament qualifications to the top-level Pro event finals, both in singles and doubles competition, you’ll feel like diving into a real professional tennis player career.
The Tennis Elbow game engine is very open to modifications and a few mods are already available on Mana Games' forums.
Features:
9 different court surfaces : clay, green clay, grass, hard, blue-green hard, classic synthetic, NewLine synthetic, indoor hard and indoor synthetic; each with a specific rebound
21 Stadiums around the world
400+ tournaments, with 3500+ players evolving over 70 years, from 1973 for men & 1983 for women, to 2042

Warnings for the Online mode :
You can play doubles with 4 human players on 1 computer, or on 2 computers with 2 players on each, via LAN or Internet — but not on four separate computers.
Online play uses peer-to-peer (P2P) connections with no relay server. This means that if you're behind CGNAT, or if you cannot forward a UDP port or use UPnP on your Internet router, you won’t be able to host a match. You should still be able to join a host, though.

Official update history
Bug Fixes :
- Tutorial : the topspin lesson validation was broken since the previous update
Bug Fixes :
- Animation : when moving forward (and possibly in some other cases), our player was very often anticipating that we were going to turn around our BH to do a FH, and turn around our FH to do a BH, and thus was preparing the wrong strike
- Animation : the head could be slightly misoriented in some cases, especially with some waiting-for-the-opponent-to-serve animations
Bug Fixes :
- Animation : the Sliding FH was played instead of Sliding BH
- Animation : fixed some weird movement when we make our player turn around his backhand to play his forehand, but it'll still happen if we position our player incorrectly (ie: go too far and need to be brought back a bit by the AutoPos)
New Features :
- HUD : added Settings -> 3D Match -> Show Info On Error -> On ball bounce
Changes :
- Tutorial : the strikes of the 1st phase of the 3rd lesson ("Correct Positioning") were sometimes not validated even if you were correctly positioned, and raised the positioning tolerance a little bit to validate the strikes of the 2nd phase
- Controls : you can now switch to the slice sliding from the 2H-Backhand if you press the slice button right at the start of the sliding animation
- Acceleration Trait : the Heavy Hitter is now a bit less slowed down after hitting accelerations
- World Tour : lowered a bit the strength of the singles players who play only doubles at the end of their career
- PlayStation : raised the Mod space from 1.6 GB to 3.2 GB
Bug Fixes :
- Controls : the volley jump wasn't considering the AutoPos movement, and thus it could trigger when it was not required
- Crowd : the crowd was clapping after a missed 1st serve ending fault by a big margin
- Consoles : some part of the stadium lighting could get weird during the night session
- Modding : custom music tracks were fully loaded into the memory, which could lead to a crash on PlayStation
Bug Fixes :
- Online : since the last update, the number of online games was always 0
Bug Fixes :
- Doubles : since the previous update, the ball could go through your player when you were volleying
- Stadiums : the Key Biscayne stadium was corrupted in the previous update (I hate computers ! 😓 )
Bug Fixes :
- Gameplay : the net jump was sometimes not triggered despite being needed
- Animation : fixed a couple of cases where the player wasn't rotating in the correct direction
- World Tour : the CPU could save his energy even during 1-set match, leading to unexpected defeats
Note :
I'm not sure what happened, but Steam says it's for Nov 24th, but actually, it's already released... 😖 😅
Bug Fixes :
- Gameplay : the jump at the net could be done in the wrong direction when trying to reach a very crossed ball
- World Tour : going to the Load or Save screen with Modded Tour bases could lead to corrupted draws, leading in turn to corrupted rankings
- Animation : the player could still weirdly rotate sometimes (and I'm still not sure I caught all cases... :fear: )
- Modding : lowered the corruption chance from entering and exiting the Mod Management menu before the Mod updates are applied
Changes :
- Anim : lowered the hip jiggling of the running back mocap anim
Bug Fixes :
- Anim : Mocap anims didn't work well with the AutoPos
- Anim : legs were not moving with Slow AutoPos (both with Legacy & Mocap anims)
- Online : fixed the new handling of IPv4 vs IPv6 connection (if you have one, I recommend you try to use your IPv6 as IP override if you have hosting issues, after having opened the UDP Port 4321 in your Router IPv6 firewall)
Changes :
- Animation : disabled the grip of the feet on the ground for Mocap anims so that the overall player movement is smoother
Bug Fixes :
- Animation : fixed a few Mocap animation issues, especially when playing online
- PlayStaiton : it was not possible to connect to the online mode
Bug Fixes :
- Animation : when using Mocap anims, if you were moving at the end of the point, the service animation was corrupted
Bug Fixes :
- Strike : the service couldn't clip the net anymore, except on slice serves
- World Tour : with the previous update, it was not possible to load the Women's Tour
- Menu : with the previous update, showing the in-game help at the start of the match and clicking on "ok" with the mouse was coming back to the Main menu
