Virtual Rides III is here! Set foot in an even bigger, more colorful, and more impressive fairground than ever before! Let your imagination be your guide! Design, control, and ride more than 15 unique attractions!
You are the carnival barker! Grab a microphone and fire up your guests with your own calls!
The atmospheric lighting doesn't really come into effect until sunset – but that's no problem! Simply change the time and even the weather!
Take your place in the control booth and use the 3D panel to control the ride just as you like!
There are more than 15 attractions available! Start them up and give your guests the ride of their lives!
Now it's your turn! Climb in, buckle up, hold on tight – and ride your fairground ride!
Need a bigger kick? Then grab you HTC Vive or Oculus Rift for an even more realistic nerve-tingling wild ride!

Other Changes:
Improved: Background walls and lightbox signs are now slightly illuminated at night.
Fixed: The Chopper ride's damping was too aggressive when parking.
Fixed: An issue where restraints on the Chopper ride could be opened while upside down.
Fixed: Visitors no longer being pushed into the moving parts on certain rides.
Fixed: An issue preventing visitors from queuing up properly for the Astronaut ride.
Fixed: Missing Level of Detail (LOD) on the Haunted Spin ride.
Fixed: Effects are now controllable after switching design presets.
Fixed: Removed a duplicate dual-color option from the lighting menu and replaced it with a new combination.
Fixed: The Salsa ride's damping was too aggressive.
Fixed: A trailer clipped through a building on one map tile.

We conducted a large survey under the motto “Shape The Future of Virtual Rides”. We received a lot of great submissions and were able to get a good overview of your wishes and ideas for a potential successor to Virtual Rides 3. We would like to take this opportunity to give you a little insight into the results:

Regarding 1. above all, customizable light/LED effects and decoration were mentioned. In addition, (even) more realistic controls and storable, automatic ride programs.
For 2. the assembly and dismantling of rides, individual fairground layouts and a career mode were mentioned.
Under 3. you mainly asked for an improved music system with playlists, integration of streaming providers and more realistic ride and ambient sounds.
Create Your Ride
73% of respondents stated that they would like to use a “Create Your Ride” function, similar to Indoorlands. You can take a look at the workshop and see what users have already built there. Pretty impressive.

Kickstarter
As the potential development of a successor to VR3 would involve a great deal of effort, both in terms of time and money, we naturally also have to think about funding. That's why we asked you about crowdfunding. Only a quarter of respondents had any experience of this, but 40% could definitely imagine such an approach and a further 46% could possibly imagine it. That makes us very happy!
What does this mean?
The results of the survey will help us to assess the feasibility. Thank you again for your participation. We would like to exchange ideas with you on our Discord in the near future. We would also like to give you our perspective on the project and the great challenge of addressing a larger target group than before with a potential successor to VR3.

We have been spending some time over the last few weeks fixing problems with new and old rides.
Changes
- Fixed: VR Experience not showing up in main menu
- Improved: Follower camera limits on several rides
- Improved: "Upside Down" Hub is now slider-controllable (instead of toggle)
- Fixed: "Glider" gondolas not in correct rotation when parked
- Improved: Increased Light range on "Upside Down" ride
- Fixed: "Northstar" - Seat Bucket and Seat Cover customization flipped
- Improved: "Northstar" activation trigger now bigger
- Fixed: "Roundtrip" ride camera clipping in visitor
- Improved: Parking Speeds for Glider, Astronaut and Upside Down
- Fixed: "Glider" Seat entering from behind
- Fixed: "Giant Mill" ride gondolas different rotation speeds
- Potentially improved: "Haunted Spin" gondolas not doing flips
- Fixed: "Forge" ride jittering (especially if gondola engine oposing main engine direction)
- Fixed: Cross on "Glider" was a bit offset to arm
- Fixed: "Prism" ride visitors entering only slugishly
- Changed: "Glider" damper and weight box
- Fixed: "Tentacle" - Crosses drifting away from arm
- Fixed: "Rising Sun" - Cover bar for running lights in mid section were not colorable
- Fixed: Border / warning textures (e.g. on Hurricane), reworked 2 textures to match better
- Fixed: Missing seat on "Upside Down" ride,
- Fixed: Wrong polygons on "Krake" ride arm
- Fixed: "Upside Down" rotation and position of some podium light caps
- Fixed: For a few users MyDocuments / Personal Folder could not be found. If so -> We fall back to VR3_Data/../VR3 (so besides .exe)

New rides
This time we have focused on adding two new rides instead of one.
First up, we have "Glider" - Feel the rush as you soar through the sky. With its unpredictable twists, "Glider" promises an adrenaline-packed experience like no other.
Next, prepare to take a ride on "Upside Down" - Feel the G-forces. With its intense rotation, "Upside Down" is guaranteed to leave you breathless.

Multiple designs per ride
We have also added a feature that allows you to create multiple ride designs per ride. You can then switch between different designs with just a few clicks.
These are also stored under Documents/VR3/Custom Designs. This means you can easily exchange them with other players.
We hope that this feature will also be of interest to the active modder community.

We completely remade a lot of textures and materials to have higher quality and more details, especially on the rides.
Other changes
- Added: Keyboard shortcuts for toggling laser, movinghead and skybeams.
- Improved: Some slight performance improvements.
- Fixed: Some typos in German language
- Fixed: Spawn position when selecting Prism ride on map (so it is directly controllable)
What is next?
First and foremost, we are overjoyed by the vibrant enthusiasm and enduring passion that you, our valued players, continue to show for Virtual Rides. The creativity shown through modding and the countless hours many of you have dedicated to the game truly warms our hearts. A big thank you to each and every one of you!
Now to the burning question: what is on the horizon for VR3? As a compact but ambitious studio, we've been channelling our creative energies into two other exciting projects - Indoorlands and REVEIL. Admittedly, this has left us with limited resources to devote to Virtual Rides. However, we're eager to put some more focus back into VR3 and are outlining plans to release 2-3 updates each year. The updates will mainly include new rides, but we are also working on some features such as managing different customisations for your rides, allowing you to switch between different themes. This should be of particular interest to modders.
This rhythm is planned to be continued for as long as the technical framework of our nearly seven year old game allows. We are beginning to bump up against some of its inherent limitations, but our ambition to bring you exciting new content and improvements remains unwavering.
(Addendum 24.10.2023) Patch 2.4.1
We have patched a few things from the feedback we received.
- Added: Press CTRL + Q/A | W/S | E/D to set the slider of the corresponding element to 0
- Improved: Northstar - increased light range
- Improved: Northstar - Player spawns not on stairs
- Improved: Light cap quality slightly increased (after lowering it too much in the original update)
- Fixed: Some of the new textures / materials didn't look right
- Fixed: Northstar - Automatic program didn't open restraints properly
