Happy New Year, commuters!
From the rugged peaks of Lion’s Head and Table Mountain to the southern Atlantic, Cape Town is a city where nature is never anything short of panoramic. Take control of traffic in South Africa’s second-largest city, guiding commuters through tunnels and over bridges to their destinations.
We’re kicking off a big year of Mini Motorways updates with a fun one! As the first of four maps on our 2026 update roadmap, Cape Town will pose an interesting challenge for puzzle-minded players and offer coastal aesthetic opportunities for those who prefer to explore in Creative or Endless Mode.
This update includes:

Opt-in anonymized analytics collection has been added to the game. These analytics are used by Dinosaur Polo Club to improve Mini Motorways and our future games. Data collection for gameplay analytics is off by default and player consent can be changed at any time through the in-game settings. Take a road trip with us as we cruise along the Golden Mile, arriving at our destination, Hong Kong. Our Harbor Lights & Neon Nights Update explores the famous fragrant harbor of this iconic port city, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and colorful neon streets.
From the harbor glow to the electric lotus sky, Hong Kong offers a gorgeous new landscape for you to design your dream city. Surrounded by water dotted with the famous Star Ferries, you’ll have to navigate the flow of Hong Kong’s residents as they go about their daily lives.
Don’t miss out on exploring this new city with our recently released Creative Mode! With ultimate creativity unlocked, this mode allows you to design the bustling streets of our brand-new Hong Kong map just the way you like it.

A brand new map: Hong Kong!
Ferry terminals! Hong Kong introduces boats to the waterways of the Fragrant Harbour. Operating in a similar way to train stations and trains, it’s your job to ensure these new floating obstacles don’t interrupt your traffic! Ferry terminals are new building types that will require careful planning and attention as you navigate ways across the water for your commuters.
New Achievements, Daily Challenges, Weekly Challenges, and City Challenges.

As we were gearing up to celebrate the beauty of Hong Kong upon the release of this update, we were saddened to hear of the tragic high-rise fire in the Tai Po district. As such, we are pairing this update with a donation to the Tai Po Fire Emergency Appeal run by the Hong Kong Red Cross. To those who have lost a loved one, been displaced from their homes, or are otherwise impacted by this devastating incident, our hearts go out to you. Kia kaha from New Zealand.

We’re so excited to finally bring you our Creative Mode, inspired by the one you know and love from Mini Metro. Palette-swap your buildings, rotate those pesky driveways, delete buildings, place them wherever your heart desires, and utilise almost unlimited upgrades in a game mode that offers you an all-new way to explore every map you’ve unlocked!
You’ve asked for this one a lot, and we’ve needed to do some tinkering behind the scenes, but it’s finally ready for your magic touch. We can’t wait to see what you build, be it your own hometown, the precise and symmetrical city of your dreams, or a horrifying mess.
Thank you so much for sticking with us for almost six years of Mini Motorways. Disasterpeace has also stuck around, joining us again for this update with an all-new procedurally generated soundscape unique to maps played in Creative Mode.
Creative Mode gives you the ability to:
Place and edit destinations! Rotate, flip, delete, or adjust colours to your liking.
Place and edit houses! Change colours or delete houses as you see fit.
Explore Creative Mode across ALL 23 maps and experience Mini Motorways like never before.
Creative Mode will be available on every map you have unlocked so far.
This update also features various improvements and bug fixes, including updated audio in our new Cinematic Mode.
We really do want to see your masterpieces, so upload your screenshots to the community hub or tag us on your social platform of choice to share your charming or cursed creations!
There is a chance that some players may encounter issues with the engine upgrade, in this case the previous version of the game is available under Properties --> Betas --> 1.16_tires_and_spires
Our journey around the world now takes us to a country where our Mini games have never been before: Europe’s green capital, famous for its spire-filled skyline and sustainable design.
This brand-new map is renowned for its colourful architecture, iconic green patina roofs, and green-minded commuters. With Medieval spires adorning the city and plenty of waterways to navigate, Copenhagen is a richly historical destination to hone your city-planning skills.
You can also capture your European holiday like never before with our recently released Cinematic Mode! This feature immerses you in the city you’ve built, panning across the map and following your individual commuters on their journey. Copenhagen is the perfect city for a good bit of fun, so we’ve tucked away a little easter egg on the map - let us know when you’ve found it!
This update to Mini Motorways includes:
- A brand new map: Copenhagen, Denmark.
- The Copenhagen Metro! Train lines are making their way back to Mini Motorways for the first time since the 10-year Miniversary Update
- Improvements and additions to our Cinematic Mode, offering deeper immersion and better UI for exploring your bespoke cities.
- A visual easter egg hidden away in the map - best of luck spotting it!
- New Achievements, Daily Challenges, Weekly Challenges, and City Challenges.
- Various minor bug fixes and performance improvements.
