About the Game
Every door in this town owes you money.
Rent Due is a first-person landlord sim where the property empire doesn't run itself. You run it. Answer the phone, buy your first trailer, furnish it room by room, and put it on the market. Then do the part other games skip: meet the applicants face to face, hand over the keys, and knock on doors when the rent comes due.
Build the portfolio
Start with $8,000, a laptop, and an uncle who stays on the line. Browse listings on PlotPoint, walk through every property before you buy it, and furnish your homes one set at a time. A well-kitted kitchen pays for itself in rent. Work your way up from the trailer park to the nicer streets, and when the open market runs thin there's always the auction house, where foreclosures go cheap and the bidding gets personal.
Borrow like you mean it
EstateBank fronts the cash, up to three notes at a time. Your credit line grows with every deed you hold, and the installment leaves your account every single week whether you had a good week or not. Debt is a ladder, as long as the rent outruns the payments.
Price it like you know something
Undercut the market and applicants sprint to your office. Price it greedy and watch it sit empty, eating your calendar. Every listing is a bet on how much the neighborhood loves you, and the pricing cards let you choose exactly how greedy you feel today.
Choose your tenants carefully
Applicants line up at your office. Run background checks to see their job, income, credit score, and their record. "Public intox at Build-A-Bear" is a real thing you will read in this game. Leases run short around here, a week to two months, so renewal day always comes: keep them, raise them, or let them walk. The guy you didn't vet? He's the reason your living room is gone.
Collect the rent yourself
Rent doesn't wire itself to your account. It piles up at the door until you come get it, and the calendar knows exactly who owes you and when. Knock, take the cheque in person, and keep the streak clean.
Answer the phone
Your tenants have your number and no sense of timing. Pipes burst, storms roll in, somebody's cousin moves in without asking, and every call is a decision with a price on it. Let it ring out if you dare. They remember. They all remember.
Evict by the book (or don't)
Non-payers get a notice signed by your own hand, stamped, and posted on their door in person. Just make sure you have grounds, because tenants fight back, and losing in court makes them untouchable. Thinking of raising the rent sky high to force someone out? The judge has seen that trick before. And yes, you can throw a punch. Keep swinging at the same tenant and you'll find out what lawyers cost.

Official update history
Quick fix round based on your reports.
• If a call caught you while traveling, your cursor could get stuck and you couldn't hang up. Calls now work fully with the keyboard: Y or N to answer or decline, 1 to 3 for options, N or E to end the call.
• Some older saves had a hidden level 0 and couldn't buy any property at all. Those saves fix themselves when you load them.
• The office computer would sometimes ignore E if something was in the way. It listens now.
• Sending a bug report or suggestion now gets you a proper thank you and a button straight into our Discord, where the behind the scenes stuff happens.
Keep the reports coming, they're the reason these patches happen so fast. Esc, then REPORT A BUG. Big content update is almost here.
Two game modes
New saves now ask how fast life should move before you start:
- NORMAL is the classic pace. A full day runs close to four minutes, sleep skips up to 8 hours, and there is room to breathe between rent days.
- FAST is for landlords who never sit still. Two minute days, 12 hour sleep skips, rent and tenant calls coming in thick and fast.
The choice is per save, so you can keep a calm main save and a chaos one on the side. Existing saves continue on the Normal pace.
Fixed
- Hanging up on tenant calls works again. Our last update accidentally broke the hang up button on calls, which left you stuck on the line if you didn't like any of the options. Sorry about that one. Every call now has a hang up button while the choices are on screen, and hanging up counts as politely declining.
More fixes and some bigger content are already in the works. Keep the reports coming: Esc in game, then REPORT A BUG.
Less sleeping, more landlording
We heard you loud and clear. The game asked you to sleep way too much, and that made it feel like a nap simulator instead of a landlord sim. This update reworks the core loop so the world moves while you do.
The game loop
- Days now pass in real time while you play. A full day takes about two minutes, so rent, tenant calls, and calendar events happen while you are out working your properties.
- Rent comes in faster. Tenants now pay every 1 to 3 days depending on their credit, so there is always money on the way.
- Sleeping is now optional. Use the bed to skip ahead up to 12 hours when you want to, and the wake up is much quicker than before.
Tenant voices
- Tenants now open their phone calls with a proper voiced intro, with the same word highlight as Uncle Sam's calls.
- More voice variety when tenants greet you at the door.
Bug fixes from your reports
- Fixed missing collision in the released build. Some props and ground pieces had no physics for players even though they worked fine on our end. This was the cause of several walk through and fall through reports.
- Fixed spawning in the air when arriving at a property. You now start with your feet on the ground like a professional.
- Fixed the freezes and stutters when traveling between the bedroom, office, and properties.
- Fixed the prepay rent deal. Accepting three payments upfront now actually covers the next three rent cycles instead of charging you twice.
- Fixed the wall of victory music when finishing Uncle Sam's course. One fanfare is plenty.
- Fixed the rent to collect notification sticking around after you already collected everything.
- Fixed tenant portraits not matching the person who answers the door.
- Music volume now defaults to 10 percent for new players.
Keep the reports coming. Press Esc in game and hit REPORT A BUG, or drop by the Discord. This patch exists because you told us what was broken, and the next one will too.
