About the Game
![]()
A swarm of AI bots is tearing across the galaxy, assimilating everything in its path. As a maverick Tech jockey with nerves of steel, it's on you to clean up the carnage. Build something fast enough, mean enough or heavy enough to push back, then smash it all into scrap.
TerraTech Legion is a bullet heaven from Payload Studios, the team behind the original TerraTech. It takes the block-based vehicle building the series is known for and drops it into a roguelite full of swarms, bosses, and bad ideas worth trying.
With 200+ blocks across weapons, propulsion and utility, there’s no shortage of wild ideas that just might work. Wheels, boosters, buzzsaws, orbital lasers - snap them together however you like. Each of the four TerraTech Corporations brings its own set of blocks and abilities to the table, so your starting point shapes what you build and how you fight.
How it all comes together is up to you. Stack on the weapons and you're a rolling gun platform. Go heavy at the front and you're built to ram. Pile on the boosters and you're fast, fragile, and hard to catch. Where you put things matters - weight, balance, and whether you can actually steer it all come into play.
Jean Pierre hits hard and keeps on hitting - built for impact and impossible to slow down. Mikela plays the odds by stunning enemies and rerolling her luck until the rarest blocks fall her way. Sam phases through enemies and doubles down with critical hits. Cepheid drifts through the battlefield leaving a trail of plasma in her wake. Each character comes with their own starter build and playstyle - find the one that fits how you fight.
Four distinct planets, each crawling with bots, outposts and factories, all building to a brutal planetary boss. Upgrade your skills between missions to up your game and bring the fury on each new run.
How long can you last? Drop into an endless onslaught of Legion bots and bosses with no checkpoints, no campaign and no way out. Just you, your build, and your high score.
We think you'll love TerraTech Legion if you enjoy…

Bug Fixes
Added some more speculative fixes for long survival mode run crashes.
Potential fix for the issue where all the enemies and scenery disappear.
Removed the Dynamic Differential and the Performance Suspension blocks as they need some more time in the oven.
Reduced memory usage by around 2GB for the swamp planet, which should fix crashes some players were seeing loading into it.
Fixed collision on Thunderbolt Ballistic Assist so it doesn’t stop you putting blocks directly above it.
Improved performance with very large amounts of scrap on the floor (looking at you, crazy Survive Mode players!).
Fixed an issue where you could make your Tech’s acceleration go negative effectively swapping forwards and backwards.
Fixed overflowing numbers in contract tracking, and overflowing score in Survive Mode.
Reverted the new Survival wave designs back to the older versions until we have fixed an issue with XP drop scaling.
Hi Prospectors,
Our 1.0.6 Unstable Update brings fresh Blocks, improvements to Survival Mode and new ways to finesse your Tech build.
Firstly, we’ve spent some time creating new Blocks to fill a few gaps we identified in the Corporation Block pools. Our goal is to provide a more rounded offering for each Corporation, covering ranged, impact, and drone Blocks. It also gave us a chance to share some of our…wilder ideas (looking at you, Star Flail).
We’ve also heard that many of you want more ways to build into a particular Tech damage type. Our new crate‑reward flow added to the end of large encounters means you’ll now be able to choose the weapon‑type crate that best suits your Tech.
Beyond this, we’ve made several quality‑of‑life improvements to Survival Mode, with a strong focus on stability. We believe we’ve fixed those run‑ending crashes, though they can be tricky to track down, so please bear with us.
Let’s dive into the details…

Hi Prospectors,
For players who are new to Payload Studios and our games, we sometimes run an unstable branch before launching the full version for everyone. It’s a chance for us to identify any bugs or balance issues, and it’s also an opportunity for you to feedback and discuss your thoughts on our Discord server.
Whenever a new unstable version is available, we’ll make it clear by including “Unstable” in the title of the Steam blog post, as well as in the information box below.

I suspect this is an update many of you have been waiting for. Block Banning and Block Recycling have now been added to the game. We go into more detail below on how each system works, but together they give you two powerful new tools to help refine and optimise your builds.
Thank you again for all your feedback and bug reports. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been able to fix a good number of issues. And if we haven’t quite reached the ones at the top of your list yet, don’t worry, 1.0.6 is already in the works, with plenty more improvements on the way.
Without further ado, let's get in to the detail:
Block Recycling
Unwanted blocks can now be recycled during the Drop Pod build menu. Recycled blocks provide rerolls based on the block and rarity. Structure blocks only provide a fraction of a reroll, requiring multiple to be recycled, while a legendary block provides many rerolls when recycled. Progress towards a reroll is kept throughout a run, so you can freely get rid of unwanted structure blocks now, and keep the progression towards a new reroll. To help you track your rerolls we are now showing your count and max on the build menu so you know when to recycle and when to hold off because you are full up. All these extra rerolls will be quite useful as part of the new banning system, below! How to Recycle in 3 easy steps:
Drag a block from your Tech or Inventory into the jaws of the recycler.
Observe the value of the block as you hover over the recycler.
Press and hold the block in the Recycler to remove it and receive the value immediately.

Block Banning
To help players who want a more curated experience, we have added the ability to ban blocks when they are offered from a crate using the same resource that you use to reroll results. The prompt lives right next to the reroll button, and can be undone by clicking it a second time before a crate choice is selected. Banned blocks will no longer be a result that can be rolled from any crate offerings for the remainder of the current run. The system also pays attention to what weapons you ban, giving you less blocks that share a weapon tag with the banned block. This starts as a very minor bias - banning a single weapon would have a negligible impact on any result, but can add up over the course of a run. This allows for concentrated bans effectively eliminating a particular weapon type, for example. Of course, banning with the same resource used to reroll changes the balance of that resource, so we are injecting more of that resource into the game.
Ways to get MORE Rerolls:
Block Recycling - see above!
Character Skills and Max: the skill that provides Rerolls at the start of the run has been doubled, maxing out to 10 for a fully upgraded skill. The Max Rerolls characters can have has been increased to 15 (from 10), except Mikela who starts with a max of 20.
Increased enemy drops - an increased number of reroll drops per run.

Balance
Reduced the Luck requirement for the “Good Luck” objective from 100 to 85.
Reduced the unlock requirement for the Stun Weapon Mount from 100k to 20k.
Fixed the contract to unlock Bastion Tracks so it now requires 85 total Grip rather than +50% Grip modifiers.
Blocks
Renamed Ranger XXL Flak Gun to Ranger Shotgun, as it is a Ballistic weapon rather than an explosive.
Resolved duplicate names: the GEO Corp “Quantum Aegis Core” is now called “Mammoth Density Generator”.
Updated Rangefinder Core descriptions to clarify that it affects Ballistic and Energy weapons.
Firestorm Core now increases the rate of fire for all weapons.
Molotov Launchers can now be placed in all rotations when mounted on the side/front/back.
Corporation Logo Blocks now increase the chance of receiving blocks from their associated corporation.
Updated the Mammoth Density Generator (formerly GeoCorp Quantum Aegis Core):
Added the “Massive” tag
Increased health bonus from 20 to 40
Reduced boost strength by 5
UI
Added a new controller prompt at the start of runs.
Added a gamepad option to disable forward/backward movement on the left stick.
Improved several map icons for better legibility.
The contract screen now shows which character is required to unlock each contract.
Added the number of Boss Kills to the Survive mode end‑of‑run screen.
End‑of‑run screens now show docked drones on your tech for better screenshot opportunities.
Added our community playtesters to the credits.
Steam Deck
Increased the size of smaller text to improve readability on Steam Deck.
Bugs
Improved collision around the Triwarden’s legs to reduce cases of getting stuck.
Removed Fullscreen from Vulkan graphics options due to severe issues on Steam Deck and PC.
Stunned Legion bots no longer rotate to face the player.
Fixed a frame‑rate degradation issue in Survive mode.

Clarified the text for the Easy Desert objective to indicate that base encounters must be completed in a single run.

JP’s wheel/booster penalty‑reduction skill now applies correctly to all relevant effects.
Fixed extreme lighting issues in the front end when using Vulkan drivers.
Fixed a crash/hang when driving out of the red dome during the Triwarden Boss fight.
Fixed an issue where weapon stats and tags didn’t update correctly when moving weapons on/off Precision Mounts.
Fixed a duplicate block issue in one of the BFT block packs.
Fixed an issue where some skin menu buttons would randomly appear green.
Hi Prospectors,
Thank you so much for the incredible reception to Legion’s launch yesterday. We’ve loved watching you dive in, and the feedback you’ve been sending our way has already helped us build a solid list of fixes and improvements.
On that note, we’ve spotted an issue with the Triarch Warden and wanted to get a fix out before the weekend.

Hello there prospectors,
Firstly, we want to say a massive thank you for all your feedback and reviews. We are really excited so many of you are playing and enjoying the demo!
We thought that you might like some more legendary weapons to play with. They will be a definite drop in the new legion location we have added as well (if you can find it). We have also fixed a few bugs and made some balance changes. We’ve also added an FAQ as we’ve seen a bunch of questions from our community over the last few days, you can read this here.
We’ve been loving seeing all of your builds and creations, please keep sharing them! If you haven’t already, join our Discord!
Until next time,
-Team Legion

We have added some fun new legendary blocks:
Tenderiser
Hammer Time

Pickups
All pick ups now appear over your tech for a brief moment so you don’t miss when you pick something up.
Locations
We have added a new legion themed location where you can get a guaranteed legendary weapon drop.

Fixed an issue where some of the mines wouldn't trigger when near a legion bot.
Fixed an issue where some 1x1 blocks couldn’t be replaced (like for like) with the same size block.
Blaster Cannon damage is now an explosive damage type to match its icon (it was Projectile previously).
