About the Game
No goal. No real gameplay. Just plenty of building and plenty of beauty. That's it.
Townscaper is an experimental passion project. More of a toy than a game. Pick colors from the palette, plop down colored blocks of houses on the irregular grid, and watch Townscaper's underlying algorithm automatically turn those blocks into cute little houses, arches, stairways, bridges, and lush backyards, depending on their configuration.

UPDATE: July 14
Dear Townscaper community,
We recently deployed an update which contained a number of optimization improvements that were developed while bringing Townscaper to additional platforms. Unfortunately, we've discovered some new issues caused by these changes and have temporarily reverted to an older version of the game.
We hope to get these issues patched soon so that we can deploy the optimization improvements once more.
On behalf of the team I'd like to apologize for these issues and ask for your patience as we get things sorted as soon as we can.
Thank you for your continued support for Townscaper, we really appreciate it.

Hi there, townscapers!
Here is a small little update that addresses a couple of issues that some of you have had:
- Screenshots turn out blank
- Parts of older towns don't fully render, such as having missing windows or no doves on top of the buildings
If you notice anything strange while playing, don't hesitate to report it to the Raw Fury support desk: https://rawfury.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1
Happy building, folks!
Hi there, townscapers!
We have a smaller update available now that consists of the following:
- Performance optimization
- Some new props (you can now build a clock tower!)
We hope you will like it and feel free to post screenshots in the forum of all the cool towns you will create!

You can now build lighthouses!
(Though sadly the lighthouses have been decommissioned and won't shine at night (for now)).
For esoteric technical reasons this kind of lighthouse pattern was not possible without rewriting some core technical stuff. On the plus side, that rewrite provided some optimization to the core algorithm, and also opened up for some other minor architectural elements that were previously not possible.
I also fixed some seams and discontinuities in the grid (caused by floating point errors). These errors would appear when you build far out from the center of the world. With the new grid I'm kinda encouraging you to do that, so I felt it was thus becoming to adress that bug.
Best wishes,
Oskar Stålberg

In the last update I introduced a bug that broke the game for first time players. That bug should now be fixed. My apologies to those affected!
I also fixed a smaller bug with erroneous cropping of screenshots.
A big thanks to everyone telling me about bugs in the bugs section of the Steam forums!
Best wishes,

Every day, Townscaper moves slightly closer to containing the bare minimum expected of a video game...
...well not every day. I'm only working two days a week at the moment, as my partner is half time back to work.

- Volume controller!
- Reverting to Unity's old input system (which should bring back WASD and other key controls)
- Fixed the camera sometimes randomly moving very far away when working on very small towns.
- You can now remove blocks by clicking and holding between 0.3 and 2 seconds before releasing. This should help people without a right mouse button.
- Finally managed to sort out the math to remove a slight jitter when panning against the edge of the bounding box.

- The last grid generation and missing textures bugs should now be squelched. Let me know if that's not the case.
- Color pick can now be done with the middle mouse button (in addition to alt+click) plus I made a lil' effect for it.
- I updated Unity to what is supposed to be a more stable version, hoping it might solve some launch bugs that seem to exist at the engine level.
- I think I fixed the broken alpha bug that made the fences look solid on some Macs.
I added some quaint garden paths between the garden doors
(The paths also happen to fix the glitch I introduced when I added said garden gates)
