About the Game
Every five thousand years the planets align and create a rift in the fabric of cosmos. It’s prior to such an event that this story unfolds. Play as a Murkwraith, an undying knight barred from Death’s domain, and cursed to eternal servitude for sins committed eons ago. Experience a rich story that takes you on a perilous journey through dark dungeons filled with monsters, traps, puzzles, treasure and more.
- Play alone or together with friends. Karnage Chronicles supports 1-4 players, with auto-scaling of monster strength and number of spawns as people come and go. Full drop-in / drop-out support allows you to play and have fun while waiting for friends or randoms to join your game, even allowing you to change party size on the fly.

- Karnage Chronicles is an action RPG designed from ground up to fully immerse you in the magic of VR.
- Choose between several types of locomotion by accessing settings in-game.
- Take full advantage of an inventory system made specifically for VR.
- Unparalleled anti-wiggle system for close quarter combat. In this game you cannot tickle your enemies to death as the velocity of your swing defines the damage you do to your enemies.
- Customizable weapon presets allow for quick switching between weapons in combat, and there are quick slots for easy access to consumables like potions and food.
- Parry incoming attacks with your weapon or block them with a shield. Take full advantage of room-scale VR to dodge and sidestep arrows or magic hurled at you from afar. There are no random hit chances, all is player skill based, same goes for avoiding enemy attacks.

- Random loot and hidden treasure await. Collect coins, mine precious metals, find trash items to sell or random gear to wear. Visit new shops as you progress through the game where you can spend your hard-earned coins on new gear and consumables.
- Place items for safekeeping in your Private Stash and share these between all your characters. Your private stash is even accessible after joining other multiplayer sessions.
- Play as an archer or warrior.
Go forth and claim your place among the heroes of legend, Murkwraith.
IMPORTANT GAME INFORMATION
- Dungeon state is saved when you leave, including quitting the game. When you come back you will find the dungeon in the same state you left it.
- Multiplayer is not cross-platform only cross-hardware. You cannot play together with players who play through the Oculus Store. If you want to play with a friend who has an Oculus this person must be playing through Steam.

With this update we are trying to address some of the matchmaking and disconnect issues which have been troubling to some. Internal testing show that things are more stable but as always the three of us cannot possibly recreate the experiences of all of you. So please keep the bug reports coming and a big thank you to everyone for helping us make co-op better!
ISSUE 1 - no one can find your game session
If a game session is being hosted but no one can find it, then something have gone wrong between Unreal Engine and Steam. This problem is on the side of the person hosting the game session, and in order to fix the issue the host should follow these steps in order depending on HMD:

ISSUE 2 - indefinitely spinning wheel
If searching for a game session to join or trying to host a game session results in an indefinitely spinning wheel with a text saying searching, then something have gone wrong between Unreal Engine and Steam. In order to fix the issue follow these steps in order depending on HMD:

Sincere apologies for not having a fix yet for these hopefully last remaining issues but rest assured we continue working on them.

Two issues remain but there is a workaround:

TWEAKS AND CHANGES
- Feeding the Rabbit Foot to Truffles using drop bag shold now work.
- Using the pull ferry crank in Caverns of Decay should now be a much smoother experience for Guests.
GENERAL BUG FIXES
- Shamblers in Caverns of Decay didn't always play their attack animations for Guest players in co-op. This should be fixed now.
- Fixed an issue where mosquito sounds didn't play for Guests.
- Fixed an issue where boss battle music didn't play for Guests.
- Fixed an issue where Nom Nom chewing and don't like sounds didn't play for Guests.
- Fixed a bug with the Orc Boss at the end of Wyvernscale Mountains. He should be back to his old self and not be going down in a couple of hits anymore.
- Fixed an issue with harpies sometimes moving too fast and too far when avoiding arrows in co-op.

NEW STUFF
- New gear
- New monsters
- New dungeon with hours of gameplay
- Audio controls added. They can be accessed in-game from your belt.
- In preparation for a future player progression update we have changed stats of gear and items.
- Monsters have received the ability to alert each other, making progress through a dungeon slightly more tactical.
- Pull an arrow out of yourself or others, and then stab someone with it. Or choose to throw it at your target instead.
- Lots of new optimizations making the game run smoother than ever.
TWEAKS AND CHANGES
- When joining a game in progress the start location should from now on be at the most recent activated check point, no longer the beginning of the dungeon. It may still not work everytime but is better than before.
- Hitting the bow of Deep Goblin archers with an arrow will no longer make it stick or bounce off. It will instead go through.
- Starting location when using a Town Portal has been moved into the player room. Thus removing the potential of accidentaly triggering an instant travel back to where it was used.
- The insanely loud sound from the portcullis doors when coming back to the The Collector's study should no longer happen.
- Made a few more items in The Collector's Study interactable but not lootable.
- Swinging a weapon will now produce a swoosh sound based on velocity.
- Dead monsters will only stay five minutes before being cleaned up in single player, down from ten minutes.
- Added a new miniboss deep goblin to the bridge area in Wyvernscale.
- Changed end level boss in Wyvernscale and moved the old boss down in the hierarchy.
GENERAL BUG FIXES
- The bow issue for left-handed users has been fixed.
- Dead players should no longer be able to block the movement of the living.
- The problem with guests in a multiplayer game sometimes ressurecting far back in the dungeon should no longer happen.
- When looting something the sounds should now always play correctly for guests in a multiplayer game.
- Grunts and snorts from monsters getting hurt should now always play correctly for guests in a multiplayer game.
- Both host and guest should now be able to see the town portal leading back to the dungeon and both will be able to trigger it (previously only host could see it)

We have therefore made the difficult decision of wiping old save games upon release of Content Update #1 to avoid data conflicts. We have not made this decision lightly, and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes. That said, we believe this patch is the best time to do this, both since we're still in Early Access, and because it happens prior to any additional content increases. Unlocked achievements will not be affected.

- Minimum game time per hero class increased from 2+ to 5+ hours.
- Completely reworked the start of the game and extended Level 1 to become a proper dungeon crawl.
- Real time save system that keeps track of your dungeon crawling progress and allows you to continue from where you left off.
- Two NPCs; one a quest giver with full voiceover and dialog options, the other a shop keeper.
- Quest journal.
- Inventory system.
- Complete customization of weapon loadout.
- Magical potions.
- Magical rings and necklaces.
- A magical scroll.
- Basic player housing.
- A town portal system.
- Additional mode of difficulty. We now have Easy, Hard, and Impossible.
- New monster class; Spiders.
- Quests and rewards.
- New weapons.
- Additional trash loot.
- Randomized item drops from monsters and chests.
- Additional secrets and puzzles in level 1 (be sure to search well).
Data Wipe

Fixed an issue with HMD based locomotion not being saved between levels and play sessions.
Fixed some issues with locomotion using the Virtuix Omni. We're not done tinkering, but today’s hotfix is a huge step in the right direction.

New Stuff
- Journal: Added HMD tracked movement to locomotion options. The toggle can be found under Controller Options and will replace the controller tracked Onward-style locomotion.
- Added full support for Virtuix Omni. A toggle to align is found under Controller Options in the Journal. Please note that we don't yet have an Omni set ourselves, so if anything is amiss, please let us know on the discussion forums and we'll get right on to fixing it!
- Added 30 additional achievements, bringing the total number of achievements to 49. One is hidden.
Tweaks and Changes
- The tutorial will now give information on how to change locomotion options.
- Game world: The numbers displaying coin and food values have been elevated in order to prevent them from starting inside the environment.
General Bug Fixes
- A (non-intentional) hole in the ground, trapping unlucky adventurers in Level 2, has been filled.
- Fixed an area in Level 2 where arrows got stuck in rocks instead of breaking or bouncing off.
- Improved collision on a large rock next to the first soul trap in Level 2 make sure players can't move inside it.
- Fixed a bug that incorrectly awarded the Totally Intentional achievement for any ricochet hit, instead of the intended headshot ricoshet. The achievement has not been wiped.

- Added 19 Achievements to the game.
Tweaks and Changes
- Removal of teleport/movement blocker on dead enemies has been moved to happen on Time of Death instead of Time of Dissolve as the latter was causing some issues.
- Optimized the arrow's fire particle as this was causing framerate drops on low end systems in Level 3. These drops should no longer occur.
- Hitting a pustule on the Corrupted Troll should now display as a Critical hit.
- Changed voiceover for the Journal part of the tutorial to give new players information about the Journal's contents.
General Bug Fixes
- Oculus: Fixed an issue that would incorrectly place the camera below ground when returing to game view after using the "Reset View" button from Oculus Home Menu.
- Fixed a bug that was making enemies unresponsive to being hit with an arrow in their weapon or shield. They should now immediately aggro if this happens.
- Fixed a issue where the archer's arrow would sometimes not fire if the draw hand was too close to a wall.
- Touching any of the tablets in the pre-lobby should now always return a sound and give haptic feedback.
- An issue where the hand used for looting would sometimes clench itself, and stay clenched after picking up loot, should no longer occur.
- Pottery should now always break when hit by arrows, except in some rare edge cases.
- A location in Level 2, close to the goblin mini-boss, should no longer render the player stuck when attempting to teleport.
- An issue where Archer enemies became unresponsive during combat, and stayed this way until taking damage, has been fixed.
- Mosquitos will no longer continue attacking dead actor.
