Crash Fixes
While investigating random crashes that multiple players experienced with our game, we ended up disabling the FSR upscaling feature (and related rendering code) on machines running with non-AMD graphics cards (most notably Nvidia). Discussions on Unreal and Nvidia developer communities led us to think this could be the source of crashes which have been reported to us. This could help reduce crashes even if you did not have the FSR feature enabled in the game’s graphics options menu.
Moreover, Nvidia just released a major driver update to fix random crashes experienced by players in the last months on Unreal Engine games. Please consider updating your drivers to their latest version.
We hope that the combination of these two elements will significantly reduce the occurrence of random crashes you may experience.

- Improved FPS in multiple scenes, in particular for outdoor and in vicinity of the abyss.

This patch primarily addresses camcorder footage missing in save-game and Collectible Mode issues.
It additionally fixes progression blockers, crashes, and general gameplay problems.
Highlights
- Players can now repair save-games with ‘broken’ memoirs by filming and replacing missing clips with new alternate footage.
- Collectible Mode has been improved for easier and more stable footage library management.
- Fixed multiple progression blockers, crashes and implemented general fixes (read below).
What to do with your memoirs containing broken/missing footages?
- For Collectible memoirs (white title), this can be done in Story mode or in Collectible mode.
- For Story memoirs (pink title), this should be done only in Story mode.
- After recording some footage in Collectible mode, you can swap the broken clips with them right away for Collectible memoirs.
- For Story memoirs, this is a bit trickier, as you will need to record *extra* footage for that memoir during Collectible Mode, and then return to Story mode to do the swap.
Some of your issues might be automatically fixed when loading your save-game for the first time.
For example, this should address some inconsistent memoir counters (amount recorded / amount to record to complete the memoir).
However, as the game cannot automatically re-create missing camcorder footage, we’ve given you the possibility to fix yourself the memoirs with broken/missing clips (represented by a blue icon of a broken link).
If you already have *extra* alternate footages in your library matching a memoir, you can simply swap memoir’s broken clips with one of them.
If you don’t have extra footage available (that is not already assigned to a memoir), you can use Collectible mode to record some, which can then be used for fixing both Collectible or Story memoirs.
As a side note, the management of space usage for recorded footage has been greatly improved (as well as footage deletion), so the process should be easier now.
If you encounter any issues while playing, please don’t hesitate to report them via our
support platform.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Patch content:
Camcorder footages & Memoir clips fixes
The game now correctly manages missing video or thumbnail files, and several fixes were made to prevent these issues.
- Added proper handling of missing video files:
- Missing video files are automatically detected, with a blue missing file icon displayed and a placeholder footage to playback.
- Players can repair memoirs by replacing missing clips with alternate footage.
- Missing camcorder footages are now hidden in the Footage tab.
- Missing video files are automatically detected, with a blue missing file icon displayed and a placeholder footage to playback.
- Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue where the Collectible video deletions were sometimes not saved.
- Fixed an issue where the footage deletions were sometimes saved even if the player returned to the menu without saving.
- Fixed an issue with memoir clips reordering or replacement not always being saved properly.
- Fixed an issue occurring when editing story memoirs during Collectible Mode, which could potentially cause missing videos when returning to Story Mode.
- Fixed an occasional issue preventing the player from filling gaps in memoirs with available alternate footage.
- Fixed an issue where a collectible object’s recorded footage would not be counted in its associated memoir’s progression value.
- Fixed an issue where a collectible object already recorded would show ‘not recorded’ on the brackets when looking at the collectible object in the world in camcorder view.
- Fixed an issue where the Collectible video deletions were sometimes not saved.
- Unreferenced video files in save-game storage are now cleaned up, ensuring accurate available space reporting for camcorder recordings.
Collectible Mode fixes
Collectible Mode has been improved for better stability and easier footage library management:
- Players now have access to all available footage in Collectible Mode, including unused or junk footage from later chapters, making it easier to free up storage space.
- All discovered collectible memoirs are now shown and editable, regardless of the chapter being replayed.
- Any additional recorded footage is now kept after completing the replay of a chapter in Collectible mode.
- All collectible related footages are properly saved.
- Any *extra* footage recorded for story memoirs is also saved, which can be used to replace missing story memoir clips.
- Players can also film footage with no subject (neither collectible nor story memoirs), and they will be properly saved.
- The only footages that *aren’t* saved, are existing Story memoirs clips shot again during a Collectible mode replay, since the existing version of the Story mode must be preserved (note: when playing Collectible mode, Story memoirs of chapters later than the one being played are hidden).
- Any *extra* footage recorded for story memoirs is also saved, which can be used to replace missing story memoir clips.
Game Performance Improvements
- Improved many textures loading times across the game, including faster high-resolution loading for Autumn’s vest in the Bar booth scene.
Game Progression Blockers Fixes
- Fixed a blocker in **“Echoes of Summer”** where Swann could get stuck in a bush when approached by Kat.
- Fixed a blocker in **“Movie Night”** where Swann could get stuck in the garage after watching camcorder footage on the TV.
Crash Fixes
- Fixed a crash that could occur when opening camcorder menu just after recording a memoir clip.
- Fixed a crash that could occur in ‘Phone A Friend’ when playing the TV again after picking up items in the trunk.
- Fixed a crash on specific hardware setups (FWindowsPlatformAtomics::InterlockedExchange)
General Fixes
- Fixed low or missing voice-over audio when replaying camcorder footage.
- Added camera motion effects from Swann drinking alcohol to the Camera Shake toggle in the video settings (camcoder view must be closed and re-opened for the setting to be effective).
- Updated the game’s Credits
Hi everyone!
This patch introduces key improvements to save-game stability, story progression, and overall game behavior.
We’ve resolved multiple bugs causing save-game issues, fixed progression blockers, and addressed multiple game crashes. If one or more camcorder footage files are lost: we strongly recommend not to play in Collectible mode at this stage.
Please note that while this update helps prevent new save-game problems, it cannot restore previously lost saves. Players affected by this issue will need to start a new Tape 1 save to continue into Tape 2. We understand this is far from ideal and deeply apologize for the inconvenience.
Before patch 1.02.120542, save-game issues could manifest in 2 ways:

2. You must clear the game’s save storage on your machine and restart a new game (only reinstalling the game is not sufficient).
1. First, disable Steam Cloud Sync.
2. Then locate and delete your local save-game files.
3. Upload the new clean save-game to Steam Cloud.

Before patch 1.02.120542, save-game issues could manifest in 2 ways:
1/ The main save-game file is lost
- It became too big at one point, failed to perform its next save, and is no more present in the save storage of your machine.
- This would manifest by having the save-game not showing anymore in save slot selection menu.
- This issue had more chance to occur when ending the story while having recorded a lot with the camcorder, or when trying to complete all the collectibles.
- The associated camcorder footage files are still in the save storage of your machine.
How can you know your save-game is lost?
- The save-game disappeared from the game’s save slot selection menu.
If you save-game is lost, what should you do?
1. You have to install the patch 1.02.120542 before doing the next step.
2. You must clear the game’s save storage on your machine and restart a new game (only reinstalling the game is not sufficient).
1. First, disable Steam Cloud Sync.
- Open Steam and navigate to your Library.
- Right-click on the game and select “Properties.”
- Go to the “General” tab and uncheck the box labeled “Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud”.
2. Then locate and delete your local save-game files.
- Open your File Explorer.
- Delete any file or folder in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Bloom&Rage\Saved\
3. Upload the new clean save-game to Steam Cloud.
- While the Steam Cloud Sync is still disabled, launch the game to create a new local save.
- Start a new story, wait for the first dialogue to play, then return to main menu.
- Exit the game.
- In the game’s Properties, re-enable Steam Cloud Sync.
- Launch the game.
- A message will show up mentioning there is a conflict between your local and cloud saves. Make sure to choose to continue with the local save. This will erase your cloud save and replace it with the new save.
2/ One or more camcorder footage files are lost:
- The main save-game got a trace of a recorded footage, but the footage itself is no more present in the save storage of your machine.
- The issue can occur in multiple ways, just playing story mode, or after manipulating footage in the memoir menu (deleting junk footage, reorganize clips in a memoir, etc.).
How can you know your save-game is containing broken footage?
- You notice a blank or broken thumbnail for some footage in the camcorder memoir menu.
- You are unable to replay a footage in the camcorder memoir menu.
- You cannot progress the story in Movie Night chapter, in the garage.
If your save-game contains broken footage, what should you do?
- DO NOT delete your save-game.
- The dev team is still working on ways to fix the save-game. This will be released in a later hotfix.
- In the meantime, update to latest patch 1.02.120542, as it contains plenty of fixes to avoid creation of broken footage.
- Again, we strongly recommend not to play in Collectible mode until the next patch release. We know there are still bugs in the Collectible mode, such as deleting a footage causing broken footage in Story mode.
Please do not hesitate to report any bug you encounter in-game to our support platform.
Thanks for your understanding.

Hi everyone!
This first small technical update addresses two rare crashes, and improves our crash reporter to better assist us in identifying and resolving any issues you might encounter within the game. We’ve also enhanced the clarity of the photosensitivity warning during the game’s first boot.
We’re hard at work behind the scenes and we’ll keep bringing fixes to Tape 1 on our way to Tape 2!
Please do not hesitate to report any bug you encounter in-game to our support platform.
See you in Velvet Cove!
