Something important...
The game is still in Early Access. You may encounter performance issues, bugs, or crashes. This is part of the development process, and your feedback is essential in helping us improve the experience.
That said, some early development decisions led to technical challenges we did not fully anticipate. As a reminder, part of the team continues to support the current public and beta versions with updates, while another part is working in parallel on rebuilding key systems.
This includes developing a new version of the game from scratch using Unreal Engine 5.7. We will transition to this new version once it is ready.
Lighting and Visual Fixes
Fixed various lighting and emissive issues.
Fixed light source and emissive bugs on certain POIs.
Fixed an issue where neon light strips would disappear when out of view.
Improved lumen performance at POIs.
Improved MAX shadows performance.
Reduced volumetric fog.
Garage and Save System
The garage now keeps only the 10 most recent extra saves; older ones are automatically removed.
Fixed an issue where deleted extra saves could still appear on first load without thumbnails and could not be loaded.
Fixed duplicated batteries appearing near the charging station after reloading the garage.
Fixed floating pallets in the new Garage POI.
Fixed the garage lamp spawner overload issue.
Vehicle and Parking Fixes
Fixed issues related to retrieving or spawning vehicles via the CTRL+S garage/parking system.
Fixed an issue allowing cars to be spawned from any computer through the CTRL+S garage app.
Vehicles can now only be retrieved once, and only from the correct parking slot.
Fixed an issue where cars with an attached DVD player could fail to spawn or be delivered via the CTRL+S terminal.
Removed the kart located below the building.
Fixed duplication issues involving karts and lamps in the garage.
Reduced steering speed for UAZ
Item, Packaging, and Storage Fixes
Fixed an issue when placing multiple items into the packer.
Fixed several replication issues with the packer.
Fixed an issue where packaged boxes did not display the name of the item inside.
Fixed items being packaged without the proper deletion message, and adjusted box placement under the wrapper.
Fixed some missing item names in stored parts.
Exploits and Economy Fixes
Fixed the toilet money duplication exploit.
Duplicated items can no longer be deposited through ATMs.
Duplicated money now gives Poop (or Golden Poop).
This can not be exchanged via the ATM.
Tools and Gameplay Fixes
The polisher tool is now infinite and properly polishes vehicles.
Fixed an issue where sprinting could persist after releasing the Shift key.

Reminder
Some early development choices created technical challenges we did not fully anticipate. As a reminder, part of the team continues to support public and beta versions with updates, while another part works on rebuilding key systems in parallel.
With that in mind, the Garage Update is finally here, and we know you've been waiting a long time. So let's see what the team has been cooking!
Performance Optimization
We have solved a memory leak issue in the open world that caused huge performance drops. We also reworked graphic settings to offer the best quality and performance for your system. We've significantly improved multiplayer performance too.
It is not the magic fix we all hope for — please, read the Reminder at the start of this patch note to know more — but it should still be a major improvement.
The Garage
Here it is. But we never really told you what the Garage was all about. It's time to tell you everything about your new personal space, where all your saved cars can be found, customized, and painted. You read that right, Driver!
The Garage is an independent space that you can access from the main menu of the game. There, you will be able to display your favorite cars, retrieve any item you've discovered during your rides, and customize your vehicles. The time when you had to tow multiple cars and drive around with 30+ items to avoid losing anything ends now. Excited? That's just the beginning.
The Computer
Inside the Garage, and in various POIs, you will find a computer. It is a central feature of this update! You will be able to access a whole new quest system, buy the parts you need, consumables, and various objects. A computer inside your computer, how cool is that?
Inside the Computer, you will find the ChickenMediaPlayer. There, you will be able to watch the four tutorials for the Garage! You can even watch some DVD from the game.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44897769/da82d329bae309a8922240eb5784010e282b092f.png"]
Quest System
Using Horizon Quests App, you can select up to 3 requests at the same time. Your job? Deliver specific car parts to... well, who knows, aliens maybe? It's an optional feature, but a very efficient way to earn money, so we encourage you to complete as many quests as you can.
Once you find the part you need, you'll have to deliver it to the Horizon Express Hub, we'll let you discover that one on your own, to complete your quest and be credited with Horizon Dollars.
You always have the possibility to forfeit a quest if you need to. We won't judge you for it... Maybe a little. But surely, you have a very good reason, right?
Shopping
From the computer, you will be able to access different shops. The RS Part Shop focuses on vehicle parts to help you complete or personalize your car with any part you want, if you have the money for it.
The Custom Shop is where you'll find detailing, attachments, and personalization items to make sure your car, and you, shine. Who said you couldn't be stylish?
Horizon Dollars
The Garage Update introduces a whole new system: money. You can earn it by completing Quests and Deliveries, which are credited directly upon completion, or by venturing into the world and finding stacks of bills, or even gold ingots. Wait, gold ingots? I'll be right back, I need to drive somewhere.
Money has various uses: you can buy things with it, no kidding, Sherlock, like new parking slots, new storage space, garage machines, parts, or miscellaneous items using the computer. And it carries across saves, so what you earn in one save can be used in another.
ATM
As you drive, you will find money on the road. You can even earn some by killing zombies. You can collect it in your car or your inventory, but you can also go to the nearest ATM to transfer it to your bank account. Use the deposit option on the keypad to have your money credited.

Delivery System
While driving, you always had to carry a lot of items with you. But at some point, one car can only carry so much, so you needed another. Then another. Well, that time ends now! Everything you find on the road can now be sent to your Garage. Let me tell you more about it.
Part Sniffer
Like the name suggests, it will sniff and send your object into your Horizon Locker — only if you have space left. Place the item you want on the platform and use the terminal next to it to activate your PART SNIFFER. I don't know, I love the name. And tada, like we say in French, it’s sent to your Horizon Locker. You found a cool object on the road that you'd like to keep? Find a Part Sniffer!
Horizon Locker
Any object sent by the PART SNIFFER, I can't help it, is stored in your Horizon Locker. Use the screen and keyboard to retrieve the object you need. Oh, and the Horizon Locker content carries across saves, so you can send an item from one save to another and retrieve it there. Convenient, right?
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44897769/e2a77d4deba91d4271a83423ecf5c5e58cbcc5a1.png"]
Garage Tools
Once in your Garage, you will be able to access a variety of tools. The Paint Tron allows you to create your own paint canister using custom RGB color settings. The Battery Repair will... well, it will let you charge a battery, as the name suggests. The Tire Repair... come on, really? It lets you retrieve a brand new tire by inserting a used one. And the Packaging Tool lets you pack your car parts so you can deliver them to your Horizon Delivery Box, with a small bonus.
But here is my favorite one.
Car Lift
Since a developer went crazy, I won't name anyone but it was Rakoun, you will be able to modify your wheel position and tune your car’s suspension. You can extend or lower the suspension, make it stiff or bouncy, and even change the center of gravity.
But be careful: some of your modifications will drastically change the car’s behavior and handling. Thankfully, if you mess up your car settings beyond recognition, you can reset everything to factory settings. I was scared for a moment, but pheew. We encourage you to try, create, and share your wildest settings and screenshots with the community!
You can also save your settings for your car, and share it to your friends on the official Workshop.
Known Issue: We're experiencing a client-server synchronization issue in multiplayer mode. Sometimes, you will experience graphical issue, as if the changes haven't taken effect. We are working on it.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44897769/3c033afcc391e2585b24978de9c0d642ab24678e.png"]
Car Saving
You will now be able to save cars! Using the parking terminal, you can save your vehicle and request a car delivery. Yes, we said car delivery. We'll let you discover that one, it's a very cool one.
Showroom
Oh. My. God. It always sounds cool for us French people. In the Garage, you will have access to your own personal showroom. You can store your favorite cars, your most beautiful ones, your most cherished ones... and yes, also your most foolish ones.
To use it, select a car with the left button, then press the red button to make it appear. Here is your beautiful baby. Now, use the potentiometer, oh, that's a new word for me, to rotate the platform. Warning: you can overcharge the platform by adding a car battery. I wonder what happens when you push it over 9000…

Community Lockers
Remember in December, when some of you won a giveaway? It’s time to claim it with our new Community Lockers. Just enter the code in the Menu, and claim it in game. This includes the Christmas item. Once again, sorry for the delay! You'll receive your code shortly on Discord.

Here it is. You now know everything about the Garage Update! To help you, we added some tutorials to your personal computer and inside the Garage itself, check your Chicken Media Player. But that's not everything included in this update.
Controller Support
We are very pleased to announce that we successfully integrated Xbox & PS5 controller support into Drive Beyond Horizons! We are very happy to let you experience the game in a whole new way.
Important note: If you notice that the game feels like your controller is emulating a keyboard (for example, accelerating with the left joystick instead of the rear trigger while driving), this is not a game bug but a Steam Input configuration issue. To fix it:
While the game is running, press Shift + Tab to open the Steam Overlay.
Go to Steam Input Settings for the game.
Replace Keyboard/Mouse Emulation with a Controller configuration.
Also, the game works on Steam Deck now! If you own one, try it out!
Warning: we'll have to reset your settings and bindings for Controller Support.
Car Physics Overall
We completely reworked the car physics and handling for every vehicle. All cars are tuned to provide better handling and more consistent behavior. Top speed and acceleration have been reworked to better match their real-life counterparts. With this, the rear end should now slide out more naturally, allowing you to hold slides and drift. You will still get sent into the air if you hit a speed bump though, speed limits exist for a reason, drive safe they say.
Night Mode
We’ve implemented a new lighting system with more realistic light handling. We’ve also introduced a “dark night” mode to deliver truly immersive nights. In this mode, you’ll need to rely on your headlights to navigate. This option can be enabled when starting a new game.
By default, or if the option is not selected, nights will remain brighter, with a more “Hollywood-style” look.
1 Year Anniversary
We’re also celebrating the first anniversary of the game in Early Access. It’s been a long journey, and there’s still more to come, but we’re truly happy to share this road with all of you. We’re incredibly grateful for your support. Thank you very much!
To mark the occasion, we offer you an exclusive in-game skin.
Claim it now with the code DBH1-DBH1-DBH1-DBH1 on the Main Menu.

Reminder
Some early development choices created technical challenges we did not fully anticipate. As a reminder, part of the team continues to support public and beta versions with updates, while another works on rebuilding key systems in parallel.

Lumen rendering performance improved
The German Hatchback Is Tamed
After months of fighting back, the German Hatchback has finally been brought under control.
The endless spinning, sliding, and unpredictable handling are gone, replaced with a car that finally drives the way it should. It’s fast, planted, and genuinely fun to push.
The German Hatchback now feels alive: the front end grips and bites into corners, while the rear slides just enough to help you rotate through. You can throw it into a bend, feel the weight shift, and come out clean: no more wrestling the car, just driving it.
Q: Will the other vehicles receive similar handling updates?
A: Yes. The remaining vehicles are currently being reviewed and refined, and their handling updates will roll out in a future hotfix.
Fixes and Adjustments
Drivetrain converted to FWD
Vehicle weight increased to 900 kg
