About the Game

With the dual stick controls, each stick represents one of your feet. You will need to learn how to control them and transfer weight, just like on a real skateboard. The physics have been developed with a focus on realism, smoothness and immersion. Just like in real life for a new skateboarder, the first hours can seem challenging, but once you have mastered the technique, you will feel the unrivalled thrill of pulling off your very first kickflip! Session: Skate Sim also includes full options customisation, so you can enjoy the perfect experience tailored to you. A full tutorial provides all the help you need to get started, and you can choose from four difficulty levels!

Inspired by the golden age of street skating – the 1990s – Session: Skate Sim lets you experience true skateboarding and its culture: no scoring system; just you, your spot and your imagination! There's no need for judges to tell you that your noseslide or varial heelflip are perfect for this spot. And because certain locations are iconic, the developers have added several of them to the game for you to skate in and express your creativity, including Black Hubbas (New York City), Brooklyn banks (New York City), FDR Park (Philadelphia) and many other spots.

Skating and pulling off the best lines in the best spots is one thing, but if no one is there to film it, it didn't really happen… In Session: Skate Sim, you can film with a 1990s filter or fisheye lens, and you can use the video editor to create your clips and share them. You can play with multiple options, including changing the field of view, time of day, filters, and different camera views (tripod, orbit, etc.). Session: Skate Sim also offers the chance to go from skater to filmmaker: pull off your moves then go into film mode to experience the action from the point of view of your camera operator and create the best clip.

Show off your style with an extensive customisation system for your skater and skateboard. By completing challenges, you earn money to spend in skate shops. You can find nearly 200 items (hoodies, shoes, caps, T-shirts, trousers, etc.) from top brands, such as Fallen, Zero, GrindKing, Thankyou, HIJINX Net, Antilanta, Roger Skate CO, No-Comply, iDabble and others. You can also customise your skateboard with over 250 parts, such as wheels, trucks and many other components from famous brands like, No-Comply, GindKing, Thankyou and many others. In addition to the design aspect, the components (trucks, riser pads, wheels…) impact the way you skate. Find the right ones for your style and shred the most iconic spots!

COMMENTS FROM THE STUDIO
[p align="start"]There’s nothing better than loading into a spot and spending hours battling a trick to get that perfect clip, but what's a video part without some B-roll of running onto the board.
One thing that has always been missing in Session was a smooth transition from off board to on board. With this latest update, we’ve added the much anticipated THROWDOWN animations (and yes, we’ve also added a PICK UP animation).
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35627366/cded524df04639dec86cf9824e2c33711793352e.gif"]
Along side the throwdown animations, we’ve added some QOL improvements and bug fixes for more responsive gameplay, smoother landings, improved pedestrian behavior, better grind tracking on kinked rails, and much more to help keep you locked into the flow.
Bug Fixes
DIY objects no longer share the same name.
All DIY object thumbnails now properly match their objects.
Fixed directional flip speed when using Front / Back Foot inputs.
Fixed a crash when opening an empty replay.
Fixed front heel bounce when pushing switch.
Fixed crouching that could occur while in Casper.
Fixed loss of speed when landing after a boned ollie.
Fixed instances where skater orientation could become incorrect in air (landing near rails or pedestrians).
Fixed bounce on Manuals.
Fixed daily challenges displaying incorrect data in descriptions.
Fixed Bone Ollie float away / double jump issue.
Fixed huge pop when performing Fakie Hardflips.
Fixed FPS being locked to monitor refresh rate when gameplay FPS was set differently while V-Sync was enabled.
Fixed players entering grinds unintentionally when landing on ledges at high speed.
Gameplay Improvements / Quality of Life
“Go LONG! Frontside!” Daily Challenge now requires a 180 instead of a 360.
Improved pedestrian behavior with faster movement and better run-away rechecks.
Improved overall performance when pedestrians are enabled.
Removed the trash pile at the bottom of Dane’s Rail in Philly.
Improved grind tracking for 50-50s on kinked rails.
Tweaked pop direction on very steep slopes, so players don’t launch too far from quarter pipes.
Adjusted catch timings for Darkslides.
Adjusted catch timings for Casper Slides.
Adjusted velocity when landing in manuals.
Players now carry more speed overall when landing.
As always, thank you to everyone continuing to skate, share clips, report bugs, and push Session forward with us. Every update is shaped by the community and the countless hours you spend throwing down at your favorite spots.
Now get out there and stack clips!
Peace,
The crea-ture team

COMMENTS FROM THE STUDIO
Hey Folks,
[p align="start"][p align="start"]The session team continues to make progress on our core gameplay with some important updates in our Skate Core release![img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35627366/f1b3e74358d83b5b74db3d750a941c5c71de6da8.jpg"]
It’s been a busy year for the Session team and we’re excited to be delivering our final release for 2025!
What’s been delivered?
Skate Core V1.0
[p align="start"]As part of our push to achieve our skate core V1 we had to address the much overdue “Experimental Menu”. It is important to note that these features strongly influence the main control scheme and overall feel and flow of the game. Therefore, changes in these features were finely balanced between improving the specific feature/trick sets in conjunction with the overall skate experience in Session. It was critical that we integrate these features, to allow players to complete them, but without otherwise interfering with your existing playstyle and our core mechanics. These tricks are not perfect, but they are no longer experimental and have been moved from the “Experimental” menu to the following:
Grind Settings:
- [p align="start"]Darkslides – Are a trick set that directly counters the catch mechanic in Session – as this trick requires the player to manually “catch” the board when it is upside down.
These tricks are never auto caught and require a full release & re-input of the sticks to catch. The timing is tight, so you must be precise. It’s the same input as a regular grind, but the inputs are required during a small window when the board is grip side down. Lip Tricks – This is a huge addition for us – and finally allows for the flow of a park to be enjoyed. To perform lip tricks, you must enter a powerslide while approaching the coping, manipulate the sticks for the desired “grind”, and then use the appropriate bumper OR pop back into to the transition using the sticks.
Flip trick Settings:
- [p align="start"]Late Tricks – Are any tricks performed after the player is in the air from an ollie or when exiting a grind. Once in the air and the board is on the players feet, or “caught”, input a flick or scoop (or combo) on the sticks to perform a late trick. Note that these require time to complete, and if you’re playing on manual catch, they will need “caught” before landing[p align="start"]- Late tricks include all shuvs, flips, and combos…but also one foots!
- Late tricks are no longer triggered on catch input
- Have been debugged – no more floating over the board on landing - [p align="start"]Caspers – Much like Darkslides – Caspers introduce a whole new aspect to the notion of having to catch your board, in both manual and auto catch settings, the player must release their stick & re-input the Casper controls to successfully catch a Casper slide. Caspers function just like manuals and require a singular tail/nose input.
- [p align="start"]Primos – Another trick set that requires the user to provide an input, in auto and manual catch, to successfully catch and complete a Primo slide. To catch a primo slide/stall, perform any flip trick, and enter the powerslide or 50/50 input when the truck axels are underneath the player. Primos have two catch windows per flip – the first quarter, and the last quarter of the flip trick. Timing is key!
Gameplay Settings:
- [p align="start"]Big Drop landing – conflict with power slides inputs has been resolved[p align="start"]- To successfully land in a Big Drop – the player must input BOTH feet towards their Nose / Tail (outwards, the same as if landing in a 50/50 grind) whilst landing
General Updates:
Stutter Bug:
- [p align="start"]We’re aware of players having issues with performance when playing Session on certain platforms. We have integrated several changes to minimize these issues and provide a smooth gameplay experience for players on all hardware set ups.
FPS Updates on PC:
- [p align="start"]We had previously cut 45 / 90 / 120 fps on all platforms as it led to extensive variations in gameplay bugs due to our game code structure. Reducing these options allowed for a more consistent gameplay experience. However, we also heard the community on how it affected your play styles and overall enjoyment of Session. We have therefore found a means to re-integrate the cut FPS settings.
- [p align="start"]Reintegrated - 45 / 90 / 120 FPS
Grind mode changes:
Full & Partial Grind Input Modes have been CUT.
- [p align="start"]The default setting is now No Release, meaning the players can transition right to their grind input from their pop input without releasing the sticks.
- [p align="start"]This change was necessary to account for the addition of Caspers, Primos, and Darkslides into the full skate ecosystem in Session
- [p align="start"]Removing these modes does not prevent the player from playing with full or partial release!
Nav Fixes:
We have performed a pass at the major physics/navigation issues hindering gameplay. Most notably, we have worked to address:
- [p align="start"]Fixed – The ability to pop off banks and small kickers without the players legs & board clipping into their body
- [p align="start"]Fixed – The player is no longer pulled up slopes when skating
- [p align="start"]Fixed – The player mass is more centered – leading to more realistic physics when dropping off a curb or riding over a slope
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Speed should be more continuous popping into, and / or, landing on tricks on sloped terrain
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Losing speed when bank turning on slopes
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Updated wheel physics to ensure no impact on navigation & Speed with wheel bite set to “Off
Physical Animation Fixes:
- [p align="start"]A pass has been performed on the player physics assets, leading a more realistic & weighted feel when on board. This fix also applied to when the player bails and is in ragdoll.
- [p align="start"]Phys-anim has also been updated during grinds to allow for more arm motion.
Map options moved to “Map Settings”
Finally:
In our roadmap we included a note of “In Game Social!?” for this release.
After extensive research into our gameplay and networking options, and determining how best to provide an in game social challenge that fits with Session and the team / Studio objectives, it was decided that the technical challenges and investment were not viable for Session. We will therefore NOT be eveloping any in game social features for Session. This decision was not made lightly, and we have instead decided to continue to focus our development on the features and gameplay currently included in the game.
As our intention for the In-Game social was to allow players to share clips with friend in game, we have decided to re-launch the session discord video channels to allow for content sharing & discussions. The updated Discord channels are now LIVE!

BUG FIXES
Fixed – Manual catch – holding the input for catch orient from pop will not auto catch the tricks early.
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Floating off kinked rails
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Feet separating form board in Switch stance tricks
- [p align="start"]Fixed – A camera frame jump bug that made the skater teleport forwards back on frames
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Nose manuals to nollie shuvs no longer break the skater
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Side pop input no resets after landing a manual
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Landing in powerslides no longer leads to infinite slides
- [p align="start"]Fixed – The player pelvis popping down when popping out of manuals
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Revert min / max values
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Translation bugs in non-English SKUs
- [p align="start"]Fixed – A bug with the object dropper lights and selecting objects
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Short manuals should no longer occur after dropping out of a manual and releasing inputs
- [p align="start"]Fixed – The player should no longer bounce upwards when the board collides with a rail or object when attempting a trick
- [p align="start"]Fixed – Kick turns rates are improved at slow speeds
QOL FIXES
A pass was performed on Smith & Feeble grinds – minimizing the dip and inconsistent results when in the grind
- [p align="start"]Board & Lip Slides no longer bail when the player is top side of the ledge.
Known issues in this release
When playing on an FPS higher than your monitor refresh rate with V-Sync on, the player may witness camera stutter. In this case you have two options…
[p align="start"]- Remove V-Sync[p align="start"]- Set max FPS to your monitor refresh rate (hz)
What’s Next:
[p align="start"]We’re continuing to work on gameplay improvements as we balance the core gameplay systems in Session. Finally - Keep your eyes peeled on the in-game news or our social channels for more info on development as we continue to throwdown our core
Peace,
The crea-ture team

COMMENTS FROM THE STUDIO
Hey Folks,
As mentioned in our last Dev blog, we've been quietly working on core feature updates, focussing on delivering gameplay improvements, and pushing Sessions core to its full potential. Over the last year we have re-established our core team on Session, and we now have the programming base to push on!
In light of the much awaited updates, and focus on core gameplay fixes, this Dev Blog will read more like a changelist. Instead of relying on reading though, we recommend you jump in the game and get your hands on your controller to experience the sum of these changes first hand!
What has been delivered for this release?
Camera Overhaul
We’ve had some core camera issues since launch, making it harder to consistently land your tricks & lines. The focus on this overhaul has been on keeping the player & gameplay options clearly visible & on screen at all times while also ensuring you can see what’s coming so you can adapt accordingly!
Camera positioning & realignment speed overhaul while On Board
Ensure the camera provides visibility on what’s ahead to better help prepare for tricks, lines, and landings
Retain player on cam at all times - including on turning & at speed
Camera while grinding follows the player around curves
Camera logic & flow on banks, quarter pipes, and liptricks - it helps to see where you’re landing!
Provides height on cam to provide improved landing visibility
The camera has better world avoidance techniques
Camera follows the player on bail instead of the board
Camera menu options updated / simplified
Improved skate feel & fluidity
This deliverable is more the sum of many core changes, and not all benefits of this work are clear in the gameplay at this point in time. The bulk of the work done is on the code foundation that will facilitate future fixes in both feel & fluidity of the skater. This will also contribute to the flow and friction of the skater, and board, in relation to the game world!
The New Physical Animation update is ALWAYS on, it was previously off by default.
We rebuilt the physics assets on the player characters - changing their posture and reaction to player inputs
Flow & Friction pass #1 - The foundation to the future Flow update this Summer!
Other feel & fluidity bug fixes
Fixed Goat Feet bug when skating fast
Fixed Mongo Push Bug - causing the player to bail and bug when not completing a full push
Frame rate Updates
We had previously supported non-optimal frame rate settings in Session, leading to extensive variations in gameplay bugs due to our gamecode structure. Reducing these options allows for a more consistent gameplay experience.
Removed - 45 / 90 / 120 FPS
FPS settings are 30 & 60 now - with 60 being ideal
General Bug Fixes
Skateshop - DLC Merch Cannot Be Sold / Removed From Inventory
Shop/Apartment - Equipping New Griptape Resets Board to a Blank Deck
On Board - Skater Turns Too Sharp When Skating Fast
On Board - Skater Flung Across Map After Respawning Near a Wall
Landing - Big Drop Landing Causes Instant Fall When Getting Back On Board
Missions Game loses focus when triggering talk prompt for NPC and walking away
Prog - Unable to Sprint, Set Marker or Push After Changing Map While Prompt is on Screen
Object Dropper - Object Dropper HUD Persists During Cutscenes
Loc Scoop+Flip tutorial mission uses inconsistent trick name for 360 Flip.
Beyond these updates & fixes, we’re also happy to be providing a content update with this release!
Free Content
All players will be receiving the re-release of the New York Sewer map.
If you didn’t manage to get to the TMNT Sewer map while the content was up - we have re-released the map, minus the TMNT branding, for all players. Just head to “Extra Network” → “Sewers”. If you did manage to unlock the 122 ⅛ Sewers during the promo, you will now have access to both versions of the map, but wont lose the TMNT branded version of the map - nor the gear or Turtles.
Finally - This version of the Sewer map will be available for all players and will not be removed!

What’s Next:
We’re already knee deep in the code of the Goofy Stance update - working on much awaited gameplay updates and improvements for the community & Session core team!
Keep your eyes peeled on our social channels for more info as we proceed, and don’t forget to post your clips & tag @sessiongame for your chance to win some cool prizes from the team!

COMMENTS FROM THE STUDIO
Hey Folks,
We’re back with our first dev blog since the release of our Paris map in July, and we’re going to be taking a different angle for this one!
For the first time since publishing our Steam Dev Blogs in May 2022, we will broaden our scope and provide some context on crea-ture studios along with Session project updates.
Prior to 2023 crea-ture was Session, and Session was crea-ture, but it’s been a while since this has been the case and it’s time we share some more info!
What’s happened since the 2023:
Since early 23, crea-ture has been working and growing on more than one front. This was a major direction change to what had been our day to day life working on Session, with all decisions and all efforts focussed solely on the output and success of Session.
Session has been a relative success since its launch, and it continues to outperform our humble expectations for a Skate Sim. This reality has led to unique challenges as we adapt our team and Studio to account for this success while also preparing for the future.
Day to day life at crea-ture is now focused on 3 major topics:
- Studio growth & establishment
- A second project
- Session production
The studio management, and team, needed to grow to enable the continued production on Session while also defining and establishing our direction beyond. This studio growth is also critical to allow us to build teams in new disciplines (Audio/UI-UX/Anim) and provide ample feedback, growth, and professional challenges for our current team.
In conjunction with the Studio growth and continued production on Session is the need to secure future development and revenue for the studio. This comes in the form of our second “To Be Announced” Project. This second project allows us to continue recruiting top talent and building the depth and breadth of experience here at crea-ture studios.
More info on our projects, current team, and open roles can be found on our website at https://www.crea-turestudios.com
https://store.steampowered.com/app/861650/Session_Skate_Sim/
Now to the Session…
Before we get into the specifics of this release there is a big ticket item for us to officially address… UE5 has been officially dropped.
After in depth study on the stability and feasibility the investment required to get our physics and core gameplay integrated with the change to the physics engine is too high. There are also no guarantees that we would be able to match, or improve, the core gameplay beyond what can be achieved in our current engine version. We have instead vouched for a more focussed approach to the core skate experience, starting with addressing the more general bugs for the majority of the player base.
What has been delivered for this release?
Title Update :
Fixed - Day 1 Bounce bug - this issue has been drastically reduced, but will never be fully gone. We have worked hard to get the best overall improvement in terms of tricks and terrain to minimize its overall impact.
Fixed - Ghost Pop - this issue has been addressed and greatly improves rail skating & flat drops. However, it is to be noted that speed has an impact on this and going too fast will still result in popping off a rail at the kink.
Stats sharing - All gameplay sliders now have an associated value on screen so that stats can be shared more readily amongst players.

DLC (Paid Content):
Prague - Stalin Plaza
For this map release we have stayed on the European continent - and wanted to go with a map that delivered a real life location in near one to one accuracy.
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35627366/a067bab28ce550e30f21558fdd22a9ac3b0fa06f.jpg
We’re excited to introduce Stalin Plaza in Letna Square, Prague - a unique and distinct DIY spot that provides fun and unique gameplay opportunities in a new and refreshing setting!
For inspiration don't be shy to check out @Stalinplaza on Instagram 🤟
As with all DLC maps, we like to provide some unique and fun skateable Object Dropper Assets. This latest batch is a mix of items you would find at Stalin Plaza along with creative additions from the crea-ture art team.

*Please note that hair/hat combos will also be provided for all free hats in the future, but we need to test & improve our system with these new assets before rolling it out globally. On that note - the original early access hair/hat combos were cut due to production & budget constraints and not to be sold at a later date…*
What’s Next:
Following this release with the Bounce bug and “ghost pop” fix we will be proceeding with the integration of animation mirroring - or bringing true Goofy to Session while still working on fun and engaging maps & content.
Peace,
The crea-ture team!

COMMENTS FROM THE STUDIO
Hey Folks,
Welcome to 2024!
We’re back for the first time since October 2023, and we’ve got quite the year ahead of us, but we’ll save that for later. This Dev Blog is all about our latest release - DLC03!
Now to get right to it, this is a content focused DLC release, including our newest school map and object dropper assets. Skating is all about creativity and adapting to what you have, and we have an abundance of fun terrain and object dropper assets for you to enjoy in this newest DLC release!
On the note of releases, it’s important for our fans to know that producing and releasing DLC content does not exclude us from continuing to plan and focus on improving our core mechanics. It’s on this note that we are pleased to announce that we are currently working on transitioning Session to Unreal 5!
It's still too early to make any concrete commitments on the implications of this, but it is a necessary step in order to continue a sustainable production on Session.
Since the last update
Over the last few months we have continued to structure & grow our team in order to solidify our foundations to adapt for the future. Our current staff, as well as our open studio positions can be found on https://www.crea-turestudios.com/about/ & https://www.crea-turestudios.com/careers/
Now to the update….
DLC (Paid Content):
The big ticket in this DLC is the Schoolyard map. As anyone who has ever watched a skate video can attest - Californian school’s delivered a unique hybrid of street and park skating before modern skate parks were a thing. They had small rails, banks, picnic tables, benches, and a wide array of sets to huck yourself down.
In order to pay homage to this terrain from the golden days of skating, we have compiled our favorite spots into one kick ass schoolyard map!
The map includes spots inspired by, but not limited to:
● Hollywood 12 & 16

● Carlsbad Gap
● Sylmar 9
● Skittles

● LA High Rail
● Walter Reed
● Lockwood
● Belmont 9
● Muirlands 14
● Elysian 18
● Leap of faith

● El Toro

So dust off the old VHS tapes, and reminisce on that dream trick you may finally be able to pull off 🙂
As with all DLC maps, we like to provide some unique and fun skateable Object Dropper Assets. This latest batch is a mix of items you would find in a schoolyard, or that you would bring to a schoolyard to improve the speed or run up to a specific obstacle.

What’s Next:
As mentioned above, we continue to work on solidifying the future for Session. This is by no means a small feat, and we’re in the thick of defining what it implies and how it will impact our plans, but we’re working on it and will share more info as we progress.
Peace,
The crea-ture team!
