About the Game
UBOAT
UBOAT is a simulator of a submarine from WWII era, yet different than all you have seen so far. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.
Survival
The extensive damage system is a foundation of the game's survival elements. Unprecedented situations are bound to happen as the effect of received damage, testing player's creativity and ability to stay calm. You can try to save the whole crew or leave someone behind, to save the others.
While your ship travels through the open seas, you will often find yourself being on your own. Use your management skills to spend resources taken on the trip optimally and in special cases try to recover them on the sea, by asking your allies for the help... or by looting wreckages of enemy ships.
- Disable unnecessary devices, to keep your accumulators running for longer.
- Tell your crew to stay in their bunks to preserve oxygen.
- If crew's morale is low - play with them a session of Skat or play music from nearby radio stations, to fortify their hearts.
Kriegsmarine career
During the playthrough you will receive assignments from the Kriegsmarine headquarters. They are never linear and you may receive additional orders during them or face unexpected problems.Brave completion of assignments from the headquarters is rewarded with additional budget for the unit under your command and with acceptance of your growing reputation as an u-boat's skipper. You will need that, to upgrade your ship and keep up with enemy's technological advances.
- Upgrade your boat for the rewarded funds.
- Receive additional permissions for the reputation points.
- Buy new equipment - new torpedo types, sonar decoys, CO2 absorbers and much more.
- Send your officers on special tasks in the headquarters to, among other things, speed up a research of new technologies.
Accurate simulation
Game's simulation elements are very realistic, but that never comes at a cost of gameplay quality. Despite extensive simulation elements, UBOAT can be played like a regular game and complex matters can be learned later to become a better skipper for the commanded unit.Even small things like the influence of ballast in each compartment on the ship's trim (tilt) or Earth's curvature are faithfully reproduced in the game.
Perfection can be achieved in many ways. Prove your management skills and swiftly assign work to your officers to speed things up. If, on the other hand, you think that if something needs to be done, it's better to do that on your own - sit behind the periscope, hydrophone or 88 mm deck gun and take matters in your own hands!

Dear captains,
There is a new patch available for update 2026.1. Changelog:
Localization:
- Russian localization update by Hard.
- German localization update by Ruby.
Type IX:
- Fix: After assigning officer to one of the AA guns on Turm II, it wasn't possible to assign helpers to him to man the other two AA guns.
UI:
- Added a display of a type of U-boat to save/load screens. It appears for new save files.
Crew:
- Fix: Officers were sometimes disappearing after sitting on a bunk.
AI:
- Fix: Issue with some ships stopping in the middle of ocean.
Graphics:
- Fix: Toggling red lighting inside U-boat no longer makes screen brighter outside, when darker nights are off. In this mode nights are already bright enough to see clearly and it was often overexposing them.
Ports:
- Fix: The ceiling was sometimes disappearing without a reason over a few pens in Brest.
General:
- Fix: Fixes to Royal Oak hull splitting.
- Fix: Resolved one game freeze issue caused by the recent water physics optimizations.

There is a new patch available for update 2026.1. Changelog:
Type IX:
- Fix: Conning tower damages were sometimes rendered as see-through holes with nothing underneath.
- Fix: Resolved issues with conning tower hatches being hard to highlight in FPP.
Missions:
- Fix: Issue with some missions not being marked as complete. They could keep weather permanently locked in a fixed state. Added code that retroactively fixes this problem in old saves.
- Fix: If Python was sunk by HMS Dorsetshire, then it wasn't possible to complete the objective about taking survivors from it on board - the objective wasn't progressing after rescuing them.
Graphics:
- Fix: Volumetric lights outside U-boat were changing their intensity a bit, depending on the color of lighting inside the U-boat.
- Fix: Screen no longer becomes brighter during story sequences when red lighting is enabled inside the U-boat. It was making some of them overexposed.
- Fix: Patched code path that could technically cause the purple eye issue.
UI:
- Fix: Bearing display in binoculars could be frozen (or missing), if there was an officer assigned to UZO and we clicked the manual mode button on the portrait of another officer who was performing observation at the bridge.
General:
- Decreased depth at which U-boats can receive radio transmissions.
- Fix: Clicking on the "Wait for convoy" button now opens up the new UI for waiting. It works more reliably than the old code that was still wired there, that could make the convoy appear around the U-boat.

- Fix: Ensured compatibility of camouflages with the conning towers.
- Fix: In existing saves, the issue with missing geometry under the stern loading hatch for loading torpedoes was still occurring.
- Fix: Bearing display was frozen on the additional periscope in Type IXA.
Type VII:
- Fix: Resolved an issue with extra torpedo slots in the bow torpedo room in old saves.
- Fix: Resolved an issue with two torpedoes visible on the sky in old saves.
Ships:
- Fix: Decreased evacuation thresholds on Dido-class, the crew was staying on the ship even when it was leaned quite a lot to the side.
Missions:
- Fix: If transmission from HQ after meeting Atlantis was not received in time in the Cape Town patrol, then the mission could become stuck.
- Fix: If time compression was used at one point in the story in Enigma mission, then the screen could fully fade to black until escape was pressed.
General:
- Fix (regression of Patch 17): The captain was ordering to stop the engines when first goods were ordered in a port.

- Fix: Forward deck gun was incorrectly reported on the Overview screen.
Type VII:
- Fix: Resolved glowing texture error on Turm 0 on Type VII U-boats near ports.
- Fix: Navigation lights stopped to work on Turm 0 on Type VII.
UI:
- Slider in time skip UI is now smoothly animated instead of jumping in steps when time skipping is used on the open sea.
- Fix: If time skipping was initiated while any story sequence was open (for example during Python story sequence or after meeting a milk cow), it was breaking the UI and the time skip didn't work.
- Fix: Survivors from sunk NPC U-boats had a placeholder white icon on the list where usually a class is displayed.
- Fix: Only one pointer on the UI telegraph was moving to stop engines order after U-boat was automatically stopped for loading a cargo from another ship on the sea.
- Fix: Notification about missing spare parts was appearing when the last spare parts were moved between storage slots.
- Fix: Notification about missing spare parts wasn't appearing when spare parts were discarded by dropping them to the sea.
Crew:
- Fix: Sailors working on loading an external torpedo were appearing on U-boat's bow after saving & reloading a save file.
General:
- Memory usage optimizations.
- Fix: It was possible to send crew to some German ships appearing during campaign missions like Atlantis after attacking any ally and being considered an enemy.
- Fix: Fixes to some errors spotted in player logs.

There is a new patch available for update 2026.1. Changelog:
Type IX:
- Fix: It wasn't possible to open hatch from the engine room to the control room in FPP.
Damage system:
- Water inflow rate through hull breaches was considerably decreased to compensate for the fact that enemies are much better now at dropping depth charges and to some degree also hitting the U-boat with guns on the surface.
Physics:
- Fix: Ships with long and narrow shape like F-class destroyers could be thrown out of the water, if 140x time compression was used in the side view and they had their rudders turned fully.
Resupply:
- U-boat is now automatically stopped when cargo loading from another ship starts.
- Fix: The ship from which cargo is loaded is also stopped for the duration of resupply. Some resupply ships could leave the area during resupply.
- Fix: When resupply was cancelled by starting the engines, the resupply was cancelled correctly, but some UI elements indicated like it would be still ongoing.
- Fix: Resupply was being cancelled when an order to charge batteries was issued.
UI:
- All reports in the crew log are now timestamped with a local time.
- Added a notification to the crew log about time zone changes.
Crew:
- Fix (regression): "Merchant" skill wasn't working as declared in 2026.1 Patch 14.
Missions:
- Fix: It wasn't possible to resupply at Python, if an additional resupply was requested during Cape Town patrol.
General:
- Fix: Small issues in the code noticed in player logs.

- Fix: Type IXC/40 had a few spots with a wrong texture on the deck.
- Fix: Sailors assigned to the officer using one of the AA guns on Turm IV weren't using the other guns.
- Fix: 43U gun (the four barrel AA gun) on Turm IV couldn't be used in FPP. The officer was quickly stopping to use it after starting the action.
Technical:

- Fix: Periscope was sometimes instantly rotating somewhere else after locking a target.

- Fix (regression of 2026.1 Patch 13): Some face shapes were looking wrong, since the last patch.
General:
- Fix: It was possible for the camera to get stuck between port menu and map (disabling one was toggling on the other).
- Fix: U-boat was sometimes surfacing after loading a save file, even though no such order was given at the time of saving it.
- Fix: It wasn't possible to skip time when enemy pontoons were nearby.
- Fix: Surrendering and scuttling the U-boat at the end of the war wasn't working.

Flotilla bases:
- Fix: If a commemorative plaque was earned in a flotilla base, while playing with a U-boat that had a tiger and boat or clover emblem, then the plaque wasn't appearing and only the boat name was written where the plaque should be.
Missions:
- Fix: A placeholder message in Seehund distant patrol.
General:
- Fix: Crash while talking with port officers in certain saves.

- Fix: In tutorial no. 2, if the tutorial destination happened to be in a relatively shallow location, it could be problematic to complete it.
UI:
- Fix: Operations Officer button was missing from the port menu after loading a save file saved with port menu open and a camera inside flotilla base. It was appearing only after leaving the flotilla base view and going there back.
